“Very comfortable hotel”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

We stayed two nights in a huge room with sofa, two tables and enormous bathroom. Noise from the hallways can be annoying, like in most hotels, but further on no noise from neighbours.

Staff is very helpful and friendly.

We stayed here on a half board basis for two nights in September 2013. The hotel is well located for exploring the city centre attractions of Leon. The hotel itself has a slightly dated decor but is clean and well appointed. The bedrooms were well furnished as to be expected in a four star rated establishment. We found the staff somewhat off hand/cold but maybe this was a language barrier problem.

One unfortunate aspect was the very ordinary food and service with the evening meals, no choice and rather bland food. However this was a result of the budgeting arrangements made by the tour company with the hotel proprietors. The continental breakfasts were perfectly adequate in choice, quality and quantities.

We would consider staying at this hotel on a future visit to the region but probably prefer to eat out in the many restaurants and bars close to the hotel.

Room Tip: A good base to explore the attractions of Leon city

We had booked to stay in this 4 star hotel for 3 nights but checked out after the first night. The hotel is large, tired and impersonal with no customer service or welcome. There are about 10 steps to the entrance. I was unable to climb the steps but we were not offered any help with luggage when arriving or leaving the hotel - fortunately another guest came to our assistance !
We witnessed several other guests arriving on large tour buses with the same difficulties. The rate was inexpensive but given the star rating - there was no customer service and the free wifi was only in the lobby.

The hotel is located next to the old town. It has a large old style lobby, but only stairs to get there from the street. The layout for the rooms was interesting with 3 rooms in an alcove to the right of the lifts. Connecting doors between each of the rooms so they could become a huge suite. If there is a smoker in one of the rooms then the smoke does come through to the room even though there is a locked door on each side in each room. Noise also magnifies from the alcove and if the next room is noisy. The bathroom is enormous and adequate. There is a long passage past the bathroom to the bed, table and sitting area. It is a large room. Breakfast is good in the breakfast room.

Room Tip: request a non-smoking room and hope there isn't a smoker next door.

Our experience may have been atypical as we had three adults, but we had a huge room--really two rooms. The balconies and large windows helped dissipate the smell of smoke, was was the only downside to our stay. Otherwise the space is very clean, and the hotel is conveniently located between the train/bus stations and the old town.

Stayed here for 2 nights while passing through on our camino de santiago. Hotel is extremely well located right on the edge of the beautiful old town.. rooms are big bright and spotless. No real issue with the place as it served its purpose, however I found all staff to be cold and the hotel a little soulless The wifi is poor too. I would stay again though

This is quite a large and fairly modern hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious, with very comfortable beds (but no extra pillows, maybe ask at reception). The a/c was efficient. There was a good flat screen television, but we could find no English channels. In the room there was also a table with 2 chairs, dressing table with chair, and a minibar. The bathroom was clean and tidy with bath/ shower over, w/c and bidet and washbasin. Everything worked well. Hotel breakfast was good, with the usual continental fare, and the breakfast room is pleasant and bright, although the food area can get a little congested at busy times. The hotel staff are smart and efficient, and altogether this is a well run hotel. The Conde Luna is within easy walking distance of the cathedral and most of the main tourist attractions and shopping areas. There are many restaurants and tapas bars close by, just turn right out of the hotel, right again, and you will find them on the way to the cathedral. For fans of McDonalds, they are down by the river, in the park! Recommended
