Except for one or two streets, we were rather underwhelmed by our visit to León. There are many boarded up or closed shops with graffiti everywhere and a general feeling that not enough money is being spent on maintaining the historical fabric of the old city. This is a pity really. We had been in Vitoria Gasteiz the previous day and were very impressed by this lovely town which appears well-cared for and thriving.
