I recently went to casa paca where i have been many times this time however i have to say it was the first time ive ever been dissapointed. I always have the same which is the cogote of the meluza which is normally to die for, however on this occasion it was not so and before i even took a mouhtful i could see it was not up to its usual standards. Usually the fish is the freshest you can buy but ive a strong suspicion the cogote was frozen hence the jus was not of the same consitance. My partners meal however lived up to its expectation and was simply deliosious the hake with clams and prawns and the dessert was amazingly good. However we found the service not as good as previoius times we had to wait longer than usual and had to complain about the wine but they brought a different wine with no extra charge. I will certainly return one day but am terribly dissapointed with what usually is a meal to die for. I do hope casa paca maintains the high standards its always had in the past as its one of my favourite resturants in salamanca x

We had a very good meal in this restaurant. November in Salamanca is quiet but there was a welcoming ambience in Casa Paca. Service good, meal excellent. Quite pricey but worth it.

Nice looking restaurant and pleasant seats outside but service very offhand - the least friendly that we had experienced in our trip through Spain. As a previous reviewer had said they were keen to sell extras. Food was ok'ish but we had eaten a lot better in other places and at much cheaper cost. Wine was also expensive. If we visit Salamanca in the future we will look for an alternative

Unusually, we had our hotel book a table for us and our dogs (usually we walk the streets and find something). The restaurant welcomed us warmly, and ushered us to an outside table (no dogs inside in Spain) and were very nice - so far so good, in fact very good.
But it soon became clear that they were only interested in whether we would be spending a lot: we were pressed to buy a bottle of wine (by the glass was not offered, though available); when we went straight for a main course they pressed us to take a salad too. And on the back of the menu it said "minimum one entree per person". So they soon lost interest in us when they recognised we were not high rollers (despite coming from a fancy hotel) and whipped the menu away before we'd finished ordering.
The food was ok, but not outstanding. In fact the meat we ordered as medium came as rare and had to go back and be cooked some more. It came back as "well done" but was medium i.e. still very red inside. The steaks were Euros 25 and 27 - quite a lot. Definitely felt like we were in a tourist trap.

Wanted a relaxing and delicious dinner and it was so bad and expensive that we left totally angry and stressed out.

We wanted to sit at a table and were led into a nice room with white table cloths, although the lighting was very bright and the room hot and stuffy.

We saw percebes (barnacles) on the menu for 22 Euro. We had them for 8 Euro a few days earlier at a fabulous restaurant in Getaria, Spain named Elkano, and they were just amazing. At Elkano, we got about 16 and they were colorful and they snapped when you twisted them open. At Casa Paca, about 8 arrived and they were black and very overcooked and likely old. You couldn't snap them open as the shell was pliable. Once inside, the meat was flavorless. I told the waiter I found them to be old and overcooked and he insisted they were fresh and only cooked a few minutes. They were a joke.

Then, we ordered Gambas Blanco
a Huelva with garlic off the entree menu for 23 Euro. They arrived In a small cazuela with sizzling oil and garlic. There were about 10 shrimp the size of a quarter each...or about 5 bites, and were served with burnt garlic. Another joke.

The Sopa Castellano (garlic soup) was passable.

The wine service was slow to the point we had to grab our own wine from the nearby ice bucket and pour it ourselves.

We had considered going to a highly rated and expensive restaurant that evening and decided to keep costs down. Ironically, we spent about as much and had a terrible experience and felt so ripped off.

If you want to try one of the worst restaurants ever, choose Casa Paca!
