“Great Boutique Hotel”

My husband and I began our recent trip to Spain at the wonderful Hotel Rector. This hotel set the gold standard for the rest of our holiday. Located immediately outside the historic centre of Salamanca and within a very short walk of the Puente Romano the Hotel Rector is in an ideal location for exploring this beautiful city. Our deluxe room was spacious, inviting and, although facing the road, very quiet. The staff was excellent. For an extra cost there is secure parking adjacent to the hotel. I hope that we have an opportunity to return to Salamanca in the future and, if so, we will definitely stay at the Hotel Rector.

Stayed September 2013, travelled as a couple

This hotel was one of the nicest I have ever stayed in. Teresa, at the front desk was just amazing. Her knowledge of her city was perfect. She pointed us to two wonderful places to eat for lunch and dinner, and the best places to see with our limited time. I was offered a beautiful basketfull of gluten free breads for breakfast, and eggs were cooked to order to perfection! Wish we could have spent more time here.

Salamanca is a fascinating city - where Toquemada did all his "best" work during the Inquisition! And Hotel Rector is brilliantly placed for visitors to see the very best that this lovely city has to offer architecturally, culturally and academically. How many places face ancient city walls but adjoin a car museum?

The staff were delightful, the rooms generously sized with a bathroom that would comfortably have hosted a small cocktail party if we had known enough Salamancans to invite.

The best breakfast of the trip, fruit kebabs, huge strawberries, freshly squeezed orange juice and wonderful, wonderful coffee. No restaurant but staff ready with advice for your evening meal.

A wide ranging and useful library of books in keeping with this city's academic tradition.

This hotel is worth going to Salamanca for. Given that Salamanca is a terrific place, that is saying something. Situated at the edge of the historic centre. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful. The reception areas are stylish and agreeable. Breakfast is excellent, the staff are great and the organisation is efficient. Above all it is a beautiful, welcoming place.

Room Tip: Try not to be at the back of the hotel

This is a lovely hotel just outside the walls of the historic Old City. Extremely friendly staff, spoke english and made our stay comfortable in every way. The owner Julian went out of his way to help us when we had to leave early and still jet lagged, doing everything he could to help us. Well done and lovely breakfast, beautifully prepared and served.

Well done Julian!

The Hotel Rector was impressive mostly because of the way the staff treated us. They seemed that the most important thing to them was that we were comfortable and had everything that we wanted. In one instance they even refused a tip for moving our suitcases. In addition to that, the hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance to city center and everything else. The rooms were attractive and very comfortable, but not very large. Didn't matter, we loved our stay at the Hotel Rector.
