We were booked into this gorgeous boutique hotel rated 4* but after staying and enjoying this wonderful hotel, we would rate it as a 6* hotel. Hotel Rector is situated just beneath the walls of historic Salamanca, an easy walk into the wonderful old University town and magnificent old quarter. Most of the beautiful historic buildings are build of sandstone and at sunset, the whole old quarter shines like gold. It was magnificent to see this.
Our Hotel was quiet, calm and heaven on earth. We were given a suite which encompassed an entrance area, large lounge room, very comfortable bedroom and a huge marble walk in bathroom. Each room was spotlessly clean, there was nothing in our suite that one could criticise. The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful and we were supplied with endless cups of tea on request, presented on large trays with delightful delicate morsels to munch on "on the house". We were very well looked after and I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone. We can thank Ibertours of Melbourne for arranging all our wonderful accommodation throughout our Spanish sojourn. The furnishings in our suite were very rich and elegant and despite the Hotel being on a main road, it was very quiet within. It was indeed a wonderful place to spend a few days and it was more than "home away from home".
We travelled around Spain in a rental car and we had our own GPS - so getting to places was easy and we found roads in Spain, very good. Within a 5 minute walk from the Hotel was the old Roman Bridge across the River Tormes and views of the old quarter from the Roman Bridge were beautiful. The internet was easily accessible in our suite (entrance is from the Reception area).

Room Tip: If the credit card can allow booking the suite, you would not be unhappy.

Hotel Rector was a fantastic hotel. Rooms were large and spotless. Staff were very helpful even greeting everyone by name. All major sights were within walking distance. A computer was available in the lobby and breakfast was served in a lovely room just off the lobby. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: We loved room 18...quiet and large.

It took us ages to find it. But when you know, it's obvious. Private parking swung it for us. Welcome was very warm but not effusive. Room was clean and had everything but lacked charm perhaps. View from window over modern side street but good double glazing plus shutters meant very peaceful night. Aircon a bit variable. Took a while to cool us but fine by morning. Breakfast wonderful service and whole stay very friendly indeed. Not surprised TA #1. Would def return. Who needs views when amazing town just up the road!

We stayed here on an overnight on our way from Malaga to Barcelona, the staff are so attentive, the hotel is a small hotel but it is magnificent, bedrooms were really beautiful with extremely comfortable beds. The breakfast was just divine, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this hotel, you have to try it out. It also is within walking distance of the main areas in the town and also has secure parking. A MUST!!

Room Tip: This hotel has only two floors but if I had to choose I would say ask for a front facing room

Fantastic stay service and location. Just outside the city walls it is easy to get to via car and the staff deliver first class service.
If you want to be out of it but in it this hotel delivers being only a short walk. The university town is wonderful and is easily one of Spain’s most sophisticated and stylish.
The hotel delivers what they say, if you want a boutique stay then this is it. Use the recommendations they give you on where to go because they do deliver and you will get authentic Spain.
