This hotel was a good average hotel, nothing special. We stayed in room 512, which was a good size as was the bathroom. But another hotel shower that you feel you need a mechanical degree to operate! Some simple instructions would not go amiss and not just in this hotel.
If you cannot speak Spanish don't phone reception and my advise would be to ask for a couple of extra pillows at reception before you go to your room - you'll wish you had if you don't.
The breakfast was pretty average and if you want toast make sure you put it in the toaster the night before, it takes that long.
For a real treat make sure you visit the loos outside the dining room and for the full effect you must sit down, you will not be disappointed.
Overall, not a lot to complain about here.

Room Tip: I think they are all a good size

This centrally located hotel was close to the plaza. Not wanting to eat a typical large and late dinner; we opted for the hotel restaurant which opened at 8 PM and we could get either sandwiches or a set meal The room safe did not work no matter what we tried. The breakfast coffee was from a machine that was difficult to use and very slow. The breakfast staff would have been more helpful. We did have a good night's sleep.

We had a 'tourist' lunch (in a group) at this 'smart' hotel restaurant. The food was the worst paella we had ever tasted, nearly all was sent away and we went hungry. There was flamenco dancing which was well done, but thoroughly inappropriate at lunchtime. The staff at the reception desk were curt and unhelpful. The lavatories have all-round mirrors, disconcerting! Hope we will never have to go back.

Room Tip: Didn't stay a night but would not recommend the food.

Nicely located in the nothern part of downtown, easy to reach all main touristic attractions and the shopping mile. The interior is set up in good old classic style and provides a cosy atmosphere; To earn 5 stars requires to take care of details as well, and here is room for improvement. The breakfast selection as well as the staff service shows limitations.

What a great location right in Salamanca. Stayed here for one night(April 4th) as part of our Insight tour vacation. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Room were nice and quiet although a bit warm. We had a late dinner inside the hotel's restaurant and that was just ok.

A very gracious and well appointed hotel with the most comfortable bedding I have ever had the pleasure of using. Within easy walking distance of the beautiful cathedral and Plaza Mayor. A grocery/fruit store is adjacent to the hotel, and the walk to the Plaza is lined with a variety of fashionable clothing, jewellery and shoe shops.

The bathroom is well appointed, but be warned, because the shower has multiple heads it is a bit tricky to control.

We stayed at the Hotel Alameda Palace for one night as part of a Globus tour. We were a group of four and had two rooms. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

The hotel decor is old-fashioned and quite different from any modern hotel, but it had aged 'reasonably' well and everything was clean and in good condition. The lobby is large and grand, with chandeliers, a bar and plenty of seating.

The rooms are equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. Each of our rooms had twin beds. Also in the room were a TV, a desk, plenty of power outlets and a safe. The bathroom was large and luxurious, with lots of marble. The toilet and the shower were both closed off by glass doors from the basin. An interesting thing to note is that there were a lot of sensors in the bathroom. If you remained stationary for too long the lights would go off! However this could easily be fixed with a wave of the hand. The rooms themselves seem to follow different colour schemes. For example one of our rooms had red bed covers and wallpapers while the other was blue. You can see this in the photos attached to this review.

The hotel has free Wi-Fi in the lobby, while in-room Wi-Fi has a fee. If you are lucky like we were and get a room on the lower floor, you may still be in the signal area for the lobby Wi-Fi and can get access to it without a problem. Perhaps consider a room on a lower floor as a blessing! The hotel has plenty of lifts although at peak times the lifts can get very busy and it may take a while for you to be able to access one to get to your room. There are also stairs, which are fine to use if you are on one of the lower floors.

As for location, the hotel is very well located. As you exit the hotel turn to the right and walk down the road. There are a few restaurants and fast-food outlets, including a McDonald's. From there you can walk down the pedestrian street which will lead you straight to Salamanca's Plaza Mayor. The pedestrian street is lovely and has plenty of souvenir shops, clothing shops (all the major brands like H&M, Zara, Pull and Bear etc), banks (including ATMs should you require money) and best of all, a large two-floor Carrefour store where you can pick up drinks, water, snacks or whatever else you may require. Continuing down this street you'll reach the Plaza Mayor, which is perhaps one of the nicest in Spain. Very pretty and with lots of places to eat and drink. If you continue to the other side of the Plaza you'll find cathedrals, churches and plenty of buildings from the famous university. Well worth taking a few hours to walk around this part of Salamanca to see the sights and absorb the atmosphere.

We had dinner at a restaurant in this area, named Cafe Corrillo. Service was excellent, the food was good and there were plenty of drinks too. Staff spoke good English as well for those who aren't too confident with Spanish. We were seated downstairs (the basement) in an area reserved for functions and groups (it was a tour group dinner event), however on the street level they had a bar and plenty of tables for regular customers. From our experience it seemed popular with tourists and locals alike and the prices were quite reasonable. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere to have a nice meal.

The only meal we had at the hotel was breakfast, which was served in what looked like a dining room or meeting room. Breakfast was fairly basic with just a couple of hot dishes (scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages), some cold meats, breads etc. It was alright but by no means the best breakfast of the trip, and was probably the low point of our experience of the hotel itself. If breakfast is included in your rate or is available for a very small supplement then go ahead, but if the cost to purchase breakfast is high then I would recommend you save your money and grab something to eat elsewhere.

We didn't have much contact with the staff at the hotel apart from at breakfast, but if the breakfast staff are anything to go by then they are friendly and helpful.

All in all I found the Alameda Palace to be a decent hotel for a stay in Salamanca. It is well located, the rooms are good and service is fine. Typically when travelling on our own outside of a group tour we tend to stay at the international chain hotels, but we saw nothing terribly wrong with this hotel and would have no problems in returning to the hotel on a future visit to Salamanca. The only thing I could suggest is perhaps a bit of a refresh on the decor (even keeping the same style but just updating it a bit), offering a bit more variety at breakfast and also making the sensor lights a little less annoying! All in all, I would recommend this hotel for a leisure trip to Salamanca.

I hope you found this review helpful. If you have any other questions please feel free to message me.

Room Tip: To access free Wi-Fi, request a room on a lower floor so you can be in range of the free lobby wi-fi...
