“Best Hotel in Segovia”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

Romantic, absolutely. View - to die for. Staff - over the top. Attention to detail - unparalleled. We travel a lot. We've been to Spain half a dozen times but never happened to go to Segovia. A short ride from Madrid. Not to be missed. We wanted a hotel that fit this historic and beautiful. This is the one!

Room Tip: Corner room on the 3rd floor over looking the Plaza Major. Room #307.

The Infanta Isabel Hotel is desperately in need of updating but the location cannot be beat. It's right on the lovely Plaza Mayor and just steps from the best restaurants, bakeries and boutiques in town. On Wednesdays there is a delightful farmers market on the square, perfect for sampling the wonderful local fruit, olives, hams and cheeses. The cathedral is right across the square. We stayed in Rm 207 with a tiny balcony right on the square. The balcony only really had room for two people standing. It was a little noisy but we didn't mind because we love to people watch! The room had some kind of terrible potpourri fragrance in it when we arrived but that was easily addressed by leaving the window open for a couple of hours. The new fangled shower was hard to figure out and we ended up soaking the entire bathroom since the shower is only partially enclosed. The beds are a bit uncomfortable and the springs would squeak. Parking was convenient (valet), but expensive. We didn't find the drive up to the hotel difficult at all. I probably would try another hotel if I returned to Segovia, but I would definitely want to be in this area. The hotel just really needs an update

We stayed for a night in October 2013. The location of the hotel is excellent - just on the Plaza Mayor (main square). Our room was quiet despite the location. We booked a triple room and it was huge. The bathroom was good. Cleanliness of the hotel was excellent.

Breakfast at the restaurant was excellent.

We travelled as a family.

Room Tip: Don´t have lunch in Meson Mayor opposite the hotel.

...which - as you might guess - lead to a fair amount of noise well into the night. You have to take the bad with the good. Staff was helpful to accommodate our early morning departure. Room was quite adequate. Overall a good spot in a very nice small city.

I am writing this at 11.30pm from room 207 facing the plaza mayor. It is meant to be a superior room, and given that it is the most expensive hotel of an 8 day trip I expected better. The location is excellent but right now, and the same last night, I cannot sleep for the very loud music in the plaza. The room has double gazing and internal French windows but I might as well be in the square having a drink rather than trying to sleep here. It's BLOODY LOUD and not very good either...

The bathroom is very dated yet has a shower unit that appears state of the art. ..shame it has horizontal body sprays that floods the bathroom and beyond. , the balcony is too small to be useable and in any event is mostly taken up with the aircon unit.

I really can't bring myself to say any more. I am going to put my head under a pillow and try to block the noise.

Not the dearest hotel on our recent trip but one we really looked forward to visiting and we were not disappointed. Very happy with Infanta Isabel. Is what it says it is.

Rooms booked on cancellation with Sercotel well in advance price dearer nearer the time.
Great views from superior room, we had double balcony, other rooms with less space we had 30m2 I believe

Aircon ok

We didn’t visit other hotels but did notice some were a bit on the outskirts.

Old fashioned furnishings appropriate things clean, bathroom dated

Breakfast good will cook hot things, hard working staff

Well situated all sights walkable in different directions

Valet parking you may struggle otherwise can pull up right in front of hotel.

Restaurant food good better than some in square.

English not was widely spoken as in other areas

No English tv didn’t bother us

Room Tip: Pay for superior room overlooking plaza

I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a great location. The room was clean and the staff was amazing. I especially appreciate Sara and Azucena. These two ladies were extremely helpful and a pleasure to talk to. I would definitely stay there again. The hotel has a great restaurant.
