Silken Juan de Austria
Ranked #5 of 39 Hotels in Valladolid
Reviewed 29 January 2014

Using this Hotel as an overnight stop on our journey between France and the Algarve in Portugal proved successful. Great Location for a walk around the shopping area of Valladolid. Easily located from the Motorway. You have to park in the service road at the front of the Hotel before checking in but its no problem.
Underground car park entrance is a bit tight so are the allocated spaces but it is very secure. Slightly difficult exit from the car park if you have a big car. ( Can scrape the underneath of the vehicle).
There was one negative on arrival regarding the restaurant. It is closed in the out of the season (our trip was 4th January 2014) but you can get room service from 8.30pm to 11.00pm.
However, you are spoilt for choice with all the Tapas Bars and other restaurants to choose from within an easy walk of the Hotel entrance. It would have just been nice to be aware of the restaurant. closure at the time of booking.
Staff very help, room excellent. Breakfast was a real spread and had plenty of choice!

Dear Client,

Thanks a lot for your commentaries about us. I am glad to heard that you enjoed the stay.

For the next time, go with the car directly the parking before check-in, you don't need to make the check-in before. Also, we have two parking places in front of the hotel to stop the car for a while.

I hope to see you again in a future. Best regards

We stayed here right after Christmas with our two kids. We came from the US to visit our daughter who is doing a foreign exchange student program in Valladolid. We had the family room which was spacious and comfortable. The shower was perfect and the staff was gracious. The wifi was a blessing and hotel was walking distance to everything.

had a four night stay there from oct 17th on a saga holiday. check in was very efficient, room and bathroom very good with a proper shower one can take down from the wall and use just for hairwashing over the bath if wanted. safe worked first time. selection at breakfast excellent with good coffee and the evening meals were delicious.

i agree with your contributor who said the air con would only heat. we all went in our rooms and set it to "cool" before dinner only to return and find we were in an oven!!! simply turning it off and opening the window solved the problem.

for a meal out i recommend the "molinos roja" restaurant for a taste of the real valladolid, 2nd on the right past the bullring, walk to the end and it is near a petrol station. excellent local food and a very warm welcome.

Dear Client,

I want to thank you for the time spend writing about us.

I want to apologize for the inconveniences with the shower. We have maintenance people every day, even weekend, and if you tell us the problem we would be fixed that day, we have reception desk open 24h and the option to complete the maintenance note in the room about something broken that needed to be fixed. About the temperature of the room I have to tell you that those days the weather was hot during the day and really cold during the night so our decision was to keep the hot temperature in the room because most of the clients demand it so. I am sorry because in your case you prefer cold temperature in the rooms.

I hope you can come back again in the future to enjoy the city.

The check in was prompt and efficient, and the room was large, clean and comfortable with a kingsize bed. The decor was somewhat aged, and the carpets were stained in some areas. The bathroom was spacious, and the air conditioner which worked, was only useful in increasing the heat and not cooling the room as it appeared to be in heat mode only. Fortunately the window was able to be opened at night without the disturbance of street noise. The wifi was slow and patchy. The hotel is very close to a large department store and numerous cafés. It was a 15 to 20 minute walk to the historical centre and 15 minute walk to the bus station.

Dear Client,

Thank you for writing about us.

Sorry for the inconveniences about the heat in your room. We turn off the air conditioning because it was a little bit cold in Valladolid during a few days. Actually it is working again because the weather is much better. Since a month age, sometimes a few clients have problems with some kind of smartphones and tablets, but we are at this moment fixing it and getting a better system.

We hope to see you again in a future.

Sincerelly,

Stayed 4 nights on a touring holiday. Opposite the Bullring about 15 minutes walk from the main square of the old town. Room was good (safe, mini bar, and trouser press! but no tea making facilities). Excellent breakfast: first rate coffee, lots of fresh fruit, nice pastries, (wine even). Virtually next door to El Cortes Inglesa department store.

Had one dinner in hotel which was dreadful (undercooked fish) and did not find a good restaurant anywhere in the neighborhood.

Staff could smile a lot more!!

Dear client,

Thanks a lot for your commentaries. I'm glad you enjoy your stay with us except for the inconveniences about your dinner at the hotel with a fish undercooked. All the hotel waiters’ known that they have to change the food and cooked it again when it is not ok for the client. I will talk again with them in order to remember what they have to do in circumstances like that. Also I will let them to read your commentaries so that they were nicer with all the clients and to understand the importance to do so.

I hope to see you again so we will have the opportunity to fix the problem and show you that our food is pretty good like the buffet breakfast you enjoyed.

Sincerely,

My wife and I stayed in this hotel in June 2013, we found it very suitable for all our needs. A great location with only a short walk to the interesting and historic Valladolid city centre. Everything about the hotel was excellent, the reception, the staff, the room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. the food and dining room was excellent with an interesting menu. We used this hotel for a four night stay to explore the countryside and visit the bodegas in the area. I would recommend this hotel for couples or families.

On the way back from portugal I decided to rest one night in Valladolid mostly attracted by a good promotion, despite some negative comments.

Let me tell you that i dont know what was in the head of the people who shared a bad comment, because the people wh run this hotel know what a good service is.

I was recieved by a very nice attendee, the rooms are accessed by an impressive panoramic elevator. the room was nice, calm, climatized, with a good bed, the bathroom had a bath and was equipped with a gests products (shampoo, body milk, bath gel, toothbrush) that was even written in braille for blind people.

There was a minibar that was not overpriced (about 2.5€ for a soda)

After a good night sleep i had the best surprize with the breakfast buffet : they proposed everything : french pastries, many types of bread, cereals, meat, cheese, many typers of am, honey, many fresh fruits, real freshly squeezed orange juice and other juice in bottle, even wine, They propose to order eggs on demand, and i got perfect fried eggs.

But this is what i never saw in my whole life : i am a coffee drinker, and usually the hotels serve me filter coffee. Nothing of this here. they had a real expresso machine that makes a good coffee after brewing it, and for those who prefer coffee pod, they had one as well

Add to that that the waiter puts one hand in the back when his service doesnt require him to use them both, and it is mush more than what i would expect.

If i had to speak about a negative point : the parking is rather small, but i dont see how to improve that, and it is far too expensive (13€ for a night) However, i subscribed it cause i came for 1 night, i was very tired and i wanted absolutely no problem.

For the room i had a special week end price : 63€ including a breakfast for 2. unbeatable
