I have had the pleasure on several occasions to stay at the Hotel Atrio in downtown Valladolid and I have recommended it to colleagues. It is in a perfect location. I seldom use a car in Spain, so having a hotel within 2 minutes of the Plaza Mayor is ideal. As well, although in the middle of the city, the rooms are exceptionally quiet. The hotel itself has rooms that one would expect from a luxury hotel. The staff is exceptional-- friendly, efficient, helpful, They go out of their way to make sure your stay AND your business in Valladolid are successful.

Stayed here for a work trip for 4 days, and a number of us used this hotel. The location was convenient to where we needed to be, and the location was otherwise good in terms of restaurants etc. The hotel was clean and tidy, and the rooms are clean, and the staff were quite friendly, so if that's all you need I would say go ahead and book, but be aware this was certainly not nearly up to 4 star standard.

Biggest issue, was cold shower water, on one of the days it seems as though the hotel ran out of hot water. had to shower cold- with only cold water I could not shave my legs which was very annoying and this is the main reason for the low rating.

second issue Is the trouble to make a simple telephone call. The phone reception on my mobile in the room was almost nothing. and not enough for a clear phone call. Of course there is a hotel phone which is ok for incoming, but not ideal in terms of expense if you need to make long or international calls.
There was no business office, or facilities to use. not good if you are on a business trip.

Breakfast selection was extremely limited, very small selection, and not the best quality.

luckily I read the reviews before hand and made sure I brought everything well ironed, so the lack of iron was not too big an issue (although I would have liked one - clothes still get crushed in a suitcase)

no pool or similar amenities, which was ok since I barely had time to use them even if they were there,

but one positive is that I did sleep very well.

Muchas gracias

Hotel Atrio is the perfect choice if you like a nice and quiet hotel in the centre of the town.

The staff is friendly and helpful - this goes for reception staff, cleaning staff and bar staff alike. On our second morning in the hotel, for instance, the waiter in the breakfast room remembered our coffee preferences from the day before and brought our coffees quickly and with a smile on his face.

Our room had an alcove overlooking the cosy little street outside and was spacious and tastefully decorated. The beds were comfortable, and the room had a safe and a large bathroom with a bathtub. We found it a bit odd that there was only one bathrobe in the bathroom, but with everything else being impeccable, this in no way affects the overall rating.

The hotel's central location puts you within walking distance of the cathedral, the Plaza Mayor and a huge number of shops, restaurants and bars. If the weather is good, consider walking to the beautiful park of Campo Grande (not to be confused with the train station, which is also called Campo Grande!) where peacocks mix with tourists and locals. As the Atrio is situated in a quiet side street rather than in one of the busy streets with an active night life, you can enjoy a good night's sleep when you return from your day out.

If you plan a visit to Valladolid, you should definitely consider staying at the Atrio!

Four days here for a conference, and I'd say its a nice little hotel with comfortable rooms on a pedestrian alley in the old town near the cathedral. Great location and quiet. No problem at all with sleeping, and facilities. Helpful staff. Breakfast is fine. No real restaurant or room service, but there are great options within seconds. Give some extra time to get to airport or station due to the old town location. Enjoy the beautiful ambiance of the surrounding old town but dont look for swimming pools and elaborate services (business, food etc). Best for business or adult visitors, not families.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Atrio in Valladolid. For a four star hotel, I found my stay very unpleasant and the facilities were not up to standard.

I was in Valladolid for business and had to attend official events attended by the Mayor of valladolid over the weekend. I asked for an iron to prepare my clothes for the events but was told that they did not have any irons for guest use. Upon stressing the urgency of the matter once again I was met with typical Spanish customer service behaviour - and a disinterested look on the face of the receptionist like she couldn't care less. Bea, one thing you have to learn is that your customers ALWAYS come first! I was told this was very normal for hotels of this class. (Not that I have ever come across any where this basic amenity was not available) An ironing service was provided at an extra charge, but, conveniently, not at the time I required, there was noone available to iron my clothes until the next day.

The rooms were pretty nice and of a good size, the location is excellent, however the breakfast buffet was very poor, the choice was terrible and the breakfast room looked very depressing indeed - it is located in a basement with flourecent lighting.

In my minibar I found a used bottle of water which had been re-filled with tap water and the lid placed back on.

No access to the front of the hotel by car because of major road works, noisy and dusty from the caterpillars and diggers.

I would not recommend this hotel, there are much better ones for the same price.
