“Great location, great staff!”
Reviewed 23 August 2011

I stayed at Hotel Curious for 4 nights and enjoyed a lot! Single room with a balcony (as requested) was clean and newly furnished. Room was quite small, but had a high ceiling and very smart furnishing for a small room. Bed was just perfect and AC worked well. Also free WiFi-connection in the room, great!
The hotel staff was very kind, helpful and professional. One evening I asked for a suggestion of good local restaurant nearby and got directions to a very nice small cellar-restaurant just few blocks away.
The hotel was situated just few minutes walk off Rambla, so far enough from the touristic mayhem and close enough to basicly walk almost everywhere. Also bus stops and subway were just around the corner. I took the Aerobus from the airport to the hotel and the Aerobus stop was at Placa Catalunya, 5 minute walk to the hotel.

I was very pleased with this hotel and will recommend it to my friends also!

Small boutique hotel well located close to La Rambla. Rooms are clean, modern, small but confortable. The hotel offers single, double and triple rooms. I stayed at a single one. When I checked in, I was informed that my room was too small to stay the whole week (as I booked), and that they would provide a new room the following day - promise delivered, and I got a nice room with a balcony. Rest of the group stayed at a triple room, also with a balcony facing the street. There is a decent breakfast (included), 24h desk, and friendly staff speaking different languages. Could get good tips from the staff (about the subway, restaurants nearby, and the city tour bus). Many Barcelona's attractions are within walking distance from the hotel.
Except for the size of the rooms - which was not a problem for me - the hotel is a very good choice to stay for a few days in this wonderful city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony. Not necessarily facing the street.

Stayed here as a family group for 3 nights in a double and a twin. Absolutely perfect location for a stay in Barcelona in a reasonably quiet and picturesque street just off La Rambla. 5 minute walk to the Cathedral and Place de la Catalunya. Many restaurants and other sights within walking distance. The rooms were basic but spotless and the beds comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing lots of advice about places to visit. The continental buffet breakfast is simple but more than adequate. Highly recommended.

Yes, the decor is self-consciously minimalist and trendy. Yes, there's usually only one person at the front desk. Yes, it presents itself as a one-star budget hotel. But Hotel Curious is the best place I've ever stayed in Barcelona. It's in a fantastic location on a quiet street right off La Ramblas. Its modest rooms are simple (with folding chairs, hanger racks for clothes, and tables that fold out of the walls) but quiet, chic, and comfortable with excellent showers and air-conditioning. The bathrooms are spanking clean. There are generous free breakfasts. And the service is absolutely stupendous. Everyone who worked the front desk during our four-day stay was superb: friendly, helpful, patient. I have absolutely nothing negative to say. We slept beautifully, we loved staying here, and we'll be back as soon as we can.

By happy accident, I ended up with two days in Barcelona at the end of another trip. I was on my own, and I looked here for ideas about an economical place to stay in the city that would be friendly to a solo female traveler who spoke limited Spanish and Catalan. Hotel Curious was perfect. The staff was so accommodating, getting my room done early so I could shower and change, offering me an overview of the city and tips for getting around (in flawless English), and even getting up early to provide me some breakfast before I had to leave at 5:30 in the morning. I can’t say enough about them.

The rooms are small and basic, but they are very clean and decorated nicely in IKEA’s best. My mattress was a bit hard, but I didn’t expect luxury . The location of the hotel is perfect. Not only are you close to the main tourist attractions, a block off La Rambla and Barri Gotic, you are also close to the clean and convenient Metro system. I got a two-day unlimited Metro card and saw everything I wanted to see in the limited time I had. This is a great hotel for those travelers who want to stay in the heart of the action but don’t care about extra amenities, and I’d also recommend it to English speakers worried about setting off alone in the city. I would definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony if you want a little extra ambiance! I was on the 4th floor and it was...

This place has it spot on for a budget hotel. The rooms are a decent size and the room and ensuite were both spotless. The location is also brilliant being only a maximum 5 minute walk from la rambla; you don't get all the noise at night so you can get a peaceful sleep and yet you're within spitting distance of lots of great little tapas restuarants and sights. Our room had a balcony which is also nice and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I recommend this place very highly!!
