“Great food served on the terrace!”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

We were looking around for somewhere to eat and stumbled upon this nice restaurant. The staff is friendly, the food is very nice and fresh and the price is also very reasonable, for the menu del dia, you pay 12 Euros and there is plenty of freshly made food!

“. . . just sit down, relax and enjoy a meal with drinks!”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

dried tomatoes, hot cheese, spanish ham, fresh juices etc. . . . "SIMPLEMENTE EXCELENTE"! Since I found this place, I eat here every time I'm in Barcelona. Amazing local atmosphere, possibility to sit outside, Barceloneta beach right next door! I highly recommend this place!

“One of the few bright spots in Barceloneta”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

I lived on this street for 2 years and this was one of the few bright spots in the neighbourhood. Barceloneta (and Barcelona in general) really suffers from a lack of great eateries that are consistently good and not too expensive, and where you can actually find a table. Filferro is one place that meets all those requirements, and became one of my local go-to spots for evening meals, a lunch, or just a coffee. I became quite the regular there, and enjoyed the privilege of getting the nod from the owner on occasion! I remember it when it was half its current size, and I must confess that I preferred it when it was more intimate, but it's still a great spot.

So what's so good about it? First they have a great terrace space in a city that really lacks such spaces. Yes, it is beside a park where some rough characters hang out, but you really can't be too picky in Barcelona! And to be so close to the beach without all the hassle that that entails is a real bonus.

Secondly, Filferro has a very laid back atmosphere. The staff are all tattooed and cool people with no pretense. Sometimes they can be a bit slack but in general they do a great job.
Thirdly, the food is simple and great. The salads are always fresh and tasty, the portions are decent. My absolute favourite dish that I order every time is pollo tomillo (chicken with thyme) which I would probably eat every day for the rest of my life if I could get away with it!

The world (and Barcelona) needs more places like Filferro.

One negative: even though the owner is Italian, the coffee is pretty bad. But then again, it's bad every where in Spain....

“Tasteless food”
Reviewed 17 May 2013

We had a poor menu del dia today on their nice terrace. The food was full of cornstarch from the 1st course to the dessert and had almost no taste. The zucchini soup didn't taste anything just pepper and water, the lemon chicken with mashed potatoes was very small , and with no other taste than some lemon, no spices just cornstarch again. So disappointed cause it was a nice place with good food, probably the cook was sick.
