Description: With amazing views of the Port Vell Marina, Cal Pinxo is decorated to be carefully informal in all the soft blues and aquas of the sea and sky. The restaurant has broad windows and a terrace directly looking out onto the Mediterranean. After postres, you can take a stroll on the marina or in the Barceloneta. The menu is classic Catalan with special emphasis on things that swim. Start with a plate of fresh clams then do not miss their paella, then maybe some creme catalana or egg flan. Service is professional and quick, and there's a children's menu, too.

Miserable waitress, a rip of a salad that was supposed to have tuna with it and then a very expensive and overcooked paella. With wine - over 100 euros.
Give this a wide berth.

At the end of Barcelona yatch harbour stands the elegant yellow brick 1877 port building.(Palau de Mar.) Along the water from are a line of restaurants with white table clothes and glistening glass sheltered by white sunshades. We chose Cal Pinxo at random.

I had Gaspatcho which was perfect, followed by prawns. That was 10 prawns fried in their shells with nothing else which cost 30 Euros. Friend had the Bunyols Bacalla, a Catalan dish of salt cod and mashed potato fried in batter, which was very good and then a salt cod salad.

Price per person 37 Euros without wine.

We thougt the place looked nice, but we sould never have entered this place. The personal was very rood and ordered us to order something right away, because "this is a restaurant not a bar"! Will never set foot in this place again.

The view of the water from the terrace is great, and this is a fun spot for people-watching. However, after spending 60 Euro on two lunches that were fine - but not exceptional - we were told by a very rude staff member that we couldn't use the bathroom and she blocked the door. Despite having been the only customers eating on the terrace for about 20 minutes of our meal, when I pointed to the terrace and said we ate on the terrace, she said no. A man who appeared to be the manager and had been standing only a few feet from our table also said we hadn't been customers. One of the waiters finally saw what was happening and came to clear it up, but neither of the people who were "managerial" apologized in any way. There are plenty of other lovely options along the water, so I'd recommend finding another!

We had an excellent meal here on our first night in Barcelona. Good choices on the menu with a wide range of meat, fish and seafood. Good reasonably priced wine list. Service efficient. We thought some of the dishes were slightly overpriced compared with other restaurants nearby but the quality was very good and the situation is superb.
If you stop to study the menu outside watch out for pick pockets.
