This is a great place to stay to explore Barcelona from. My husband and I had a fantastic time and the hosts were fantastic. We went for anniversary and had flowers and Prosecco for our arrival. The rooms are a really nice mix of old and new and are very relaxing. The location is great for exploring Barcelona. There are alot of steps to the apartment but you soon get used to it and the rooms are well worth it.

B&B Gabriel is very nice and it is a really B&B, It was the most welcoming place I had ever been before. We had great fan and relaxing time. This B&B afforded me to feel Barselona all my soul. Great thanks. PS/Close to the hotel are few exellent restaurants- my recommendation) if you're on a budget and want to be in a central location this is The Place. The owner, Gabriel, is very welcoming and has lots of advice and information on the city!

I stayed at Gabriel's for 3D2N. Locating the B&B was probably the most difficult part and the front door says "Hostal Turistol" instead (which is a hostel one floor down). Gabriel emailed me instructions to get to the B&B before I arrived so it made things easier. The room was airy, spacious and very clean. Bathroom and kitchen was communal, and there is a lounge to watch TV. Gabriel was an excellent host, he made a genuine effort to make my stay comfortable (tips on sights, safety issues), and went through a lot of trouble helping me check in on my return flight (much appreciated). The location was central, more towards the south end of Las Ramblas (but only a 10-15min walk to Pl Catalunya). The street is quiet at night so take care when walking back alone (about 3min after turning off from Las Ramblas), and it is a steep 4-flight climb up to his apartment. Other than that, I had a wonderful stay at Gabriel's and Barcelona was a real treat to visit.

The thing which really sells this apartment is its sheer utility. You can have breakfast anythime you wish, since you make it yourself, meaning you can get up anytime you like. You can also cook here, reducing cost on expensive resturant eating. Furthermore there is access to internet (a house laptop) so you can check opening-times etc and prepare for the next day. Finally, the location is fantastic - right on La Rambla. Its perfect for anyone who wants to see all of barcalona without breaking the bank.

Gabriel is also very friendly and helpful in person. He pops in and out to restock the fridge and to do washing occasionally, so you can quiz him about the city. He let us leave our luggage there until our 10 o'clock flight so we effectively had an extra day seeing Barcelona.

The apartment itself is lovely, very comfortable and stylish. The only potential problem is the lack of privacy/security. The rooms are locked by padlock, but which all the magnetic keys fit - so all rooms are potentially accessable by others in Gabriel's apartment. Secondly the rooms cannot be locked from inside, so you must sleep with the door unlocked. However, everyone else staying was really nice (some Russian architects and Spanish tourists) and anyway you leave the windows wide open to keep cool - so it wasn't a massive problem.
