“BCN Gotic top appartment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

Enjoyed our stay immensely the apartment is well furnished and located in the interesting and relatively quiet Gotic area away from the relentless Barcelona traffic.

Quiet at night with lots of good eating places a short walk away a very special experience.

These apartments have the advantage of being in a bustling, vibrant area but with bedrooms set back from the street for peaceful sleeping (in Gotic 14 at least). They have an office on site which means that checking in is easy and luggage storage is possible, unlike some apartments.

Apartment was very clean and well-equipped with modern appliances, apart from the washing machine which had seen better days and didn’t spin very well. (On their website, I noticed that most of the other apartments have much newer machines.) Comfortable bed, nice towels, lots of storage, and plenty of hot water – everything we needed for a great stay. Friendly staff too. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.

We just stayed in BCNgotic33 and could not have wanted for anything better. This was our first visit to Barcelona so we weren't sure if the BCNgotic apartments would be as good as the reviews indicated, and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. The area is lovely, very clean and felt much safer than other a areas we visited. It was very easy to get to all sites, either by metro, walking or biking. The apartment was very clean and provided some basics such as laundry powder and detergent, and Wifi worked well. On arrival we were met by Martin who showed us around the apartment explaining everything, and also pointed out our location and major sites on a map. Our luggage was delayed, so Martin lent us a charger and both him and Mar helped us with the delivery of our luggage - providing a service more like a hotel rather than an apartment. On departure, a taxi was booked for us and because we left early we were able to just leave the keys in the apartment. We have no hesitation in recommending BCNgotic apartments.

The apartment is in a fantastic location in the Born. There are some great restaurants and bars just outside the door along with some fantastic boutiques and shops. Despite this the apartment was suprisingly quiet and we all slept well. Although because of our flight times we arrived very early we were able to leave our luggage whilst the apartment was being prepared. On departure the guy who came to give us our deposit back arranged a taxi to pick us up from the front door. The apartment was quite sparse but spotlessly clean and contained all we needed: iron, hairdryer etc.Although the apartment sleeps 6 it may be a bit cramped with this many people (3 of us stayed in it) as only enough sofa space for 4 people. We would definitely stay again.

The BNCGotic apartments are located right in the very heart of the El Born/Gothic area. They are on a really cute pedestrian street with many shops and restaurants right outside the door. The metro station Jaume is maybe 2 blocks up the street and the Picasso museum is just down a side alley. You can easily walk to many different areas from here. The only thing about the location is that it possibly could have a lot of street noise from people out at night. We didn't have much noise probably because we were there in March which is not really the busy season. I did notice that I could hear the noise from the square down the street much more on the weekend. I think all of the apartments look out onto the street, which is nice for viewing but maybe not so nice for noise. The building itself is very quiet, no noise from other guests.

We had apartment 33, which was on the 4th floor. I think that it is common in Spain to not count the 1st floor as number 1. There is a very small elevator but we most often took the stairs. Our apartment had a small living room with a couch and TV connected with a dining room with a table for 6. The kitchen had a stove,(no oven), small dishwasher, good sized refrigerator with freezer, and washer, (no dryer). Our kitchen was in a U shape. I saw photos of other kitchens that were more open and that might make it easier to have more than 1 cook in the kitchen. The kitchen was quite functional although with the very minimal of cooking and serving dishes. We had 3 people so we got 6 glasses, 6 cups, 3 large plates, 3 small plates etc.. They did have most basic utensils although we found we did not have a spatula. The management office is right in the building, which is very nice, so I went and asked for one and they immediately went to the supply room and got me a brand new one. They do provide dish soap, dishwasher soap, paper towels, olive oil, salt, pepper and sugar, which was a great convenience. Our apartment had 3 bedrooms, one Queen and 2 single. The Queen bedroom overlooked the street. The beds were really comfortable. The bathroom was smallish but nice. (You do have to sort of plan your showers around your dishwasher/washer use as you could use up your hot water on cleaning. Just run the appliances when you are done showering). Hand soap but no bath gel or shampoo so bring your own. Also they have a blow dryer.

The whole place was immaculate and updated. (I didn't care for the smell when we first walked into the apartment-but it turned out to just be an air freshmen plug-in in the bathroom so that was easily remedied). I would definitely stay here again.

The apartment was very comfortable, and in a convenient location.
The place was very clean and had all the amenities we needed.
Staff was friendly at the office and helped us to print our flight tickets to our next destination.

Highly recommended!

My family of four (4 adults - parents & 2 young adults aged 18 and 20) stayed at BCNGotic in December 2013.

Room:
We had a 3-bedroom apartment, with a living room area + tv, and a kitchenette, but only 1 toilet to be shared by the 4 of us. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Kitchenette was fully furnished, and there was a washing machine near the cooking area. However, the washing machine could not function well during our stay.

Location:
Good location; 10 minutes walk to the shopping street of La Ramblas; 10 min walk to Placa de Catalunya (where you can board the Bus Turistic (hop on hop off tourist bus)); 5 minutes walk to the heart of the Gothic district of Barcelona; 5 min to the relatively up and coming district of El Born. - to get to most of the common tourist attractions, you don't actually have to take the Metro (although the station Jaume I is very close to BCNGotic). You could just get some tickets for the Bus Turistic - covers most of the Barcelona city!

All in all, a comfortable stay, and in an ideal location. We enjoyed walking the Barcelona district within 5-10min radius of our apartment - Ciutat Vella; La Ramblas; El Born, along the cobbled streets and alleys of Barcelona, past the many small shops and interesting cafés.
