“Well worth a visit ”
Reviewed 22 July 2014 via mobile

I went with my girlfriend at the end of our holiday to Barcelona. The tasting menu was great!

The courses were all really different. My personal favourite was the cold noodle water feature as one of the courses for sheer dramatics, however, taste wise the Wagu beef dish was brilliant. As a restaurant it is a great experience.

I would definitely recommend sitting around the edge of the kitchen where you get to watch some fantastic chefs which also explain what they are doing.

The staff are extremely helpful and could describe the courses in Japanese, Spanish and English.

It was everything I expected of such a restaurant. It was a great experience.

“authentic Japanese of very high quality”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

amazing innovative Japanese similar to very high quality restaurants in Japan. Also quite expensive, but the amount of work put into the dishes proves how important the food is to the Japanese chefs at this impressive establishment. I was surprised to find such a restaurant in a small alley restaurant in the gothic district. Not your typical cuisine, so really need to be prepared for very special dishes, brilliantly prepared.

“The best Japanese in Europe?”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

An unmissable Japanese unique experience in Europe. One of the best and most surprising menu, full of winks to the Catalan culture but strictly devoted to Japanese taste. A place which stands out from the rest in the whole city of Barcelona.

“An endless parade of delights”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

Koy Shunka is the only Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant in Barcelona. Pricey it certainly is, but well worth every penny. We ordered the most comprehensive tasting menu, and it was an endless parade of Japanese delights. With produce this quality you do have to stretch your wallet, but you will not be disappointed. Forget about your local sushi bar, this is fine dining, ideal for a romantic or a business meal. The premises are cosy and quiet, without crowds or obtrusive background music. The restaurant is in the city centre, near the cathedral, but is located in a pedestrianised, unassuming side-street, so you might need your mobile phone sat-nav to get there. Do though, and be prepared for a truly exceptional Japanese feast.
