Hotel Praktik is conveniently located to the airport shuttle, metro, a short walk to Las Ramblas and the heart of the old city. I've never had such a large room in a European hotel. It was like having our own loft apartment. the hotel has basic ammenities but stay there for the location, great room, charming building and kind front desk staff. I would move in if I could!

I booked this hotel for a short break in Barcelona for my husband’s birthday. I booked it via the hotels website with an additional 10% off if you pay in advance (£117 for 2 nights).
Location is just superb- unbeatable! Rambla de Catalunya is the “posh” side of the Rambla’s. Only 10 min walk from Catalunya Metro, La Ramblas, Casa Battlo (opposite from Passeig de Gracia Metro & Train station - 20min to the airport ).
We got a free upgrade to a room with a balcony (No: 302) on the 3rd floor. I’m very fussy when it comes to cleanliness and room décor, our room was very clean and tidy. Very modern and minimalist - just like in the photos. The bathroom was clean but it only had a big shower, no bath. Bathroom has no external windows and due to the poor air circulation has a bit of a funny damp smell in the morning (easily fixed with a bit of air-freshener).
The bed was enormous and really comfortable.
The weather was lovely, very warm in comparison with UK (15-17C and sunny). We had out air con at 26C while we were in and it didn’t feel cold at night or in the morning.
At first I was worried that having a balcony would be very noisy (I’m a very light sleeper) but the windows/shutters were excellent at noise cancelling and I slept like a baby, despite our room facing a very busy street.
We didn’t use the Lounge or the Patio Garden area but it looks lovely and I’m sure in the spring/summer time it’s a great place to have a drink and relax.
The staff are lovely and smiley, make you feel very welcome.

Would I recommend this hotel to a friend? – YES!
Would I stay here again? – YES! Great value for money! Great Location!

Pros: Location; Cleanliness; Good Value for Money; Friendly Staff; They don’t rush you at check out (you leave when you are ready).

Cons: No tea or coffee making facilities; No Bathtub; Really small Reception area can get overcrowded at Check-in or Check-out.

Dear guest,

First of all allow me thank you for taking time in writing your reviews about our hotel.

We really appreciate you recommend us to your friends and family and we hope they enjoy their stay as much as you did.

Answering your cons, our building is an historical property and the local law doesn’t allow to make any work in the original walls. Is in planning process a new area for our guests to provide tea and coffee facilities.

Hope to see you back at The Praktik Rambla Hotel.

Best regards,

Alex Prieto

We had a great stay at the Hotel Parktik Rambla. We just returned from 5 nights there and would have only enjoyed our stay more had there not been other inconsiderate hotel guests running down the hall upstairs from us at 2 a.m. Of course, their behaviour is not a reflection of the hotel by any means.

Cons:
I will start with the one negative first as the positives by far outweigh the negatives. The room did not seem to be cleaned very well. Two things that were quite apparent was the half used bottle of body wash left from (I assume) the last guest in our shower which stayed there the whole time. Second, as our room was small, a bag got kicked under the bed and when we pulled it out it was covered in dust bunnies and lint.

Pros:
The hotel is in a great location – close enough to everything, Plaça Catalunya, La Rambla (but thankfully not on the actual Rambla), Casa Batlló, lovely restaurants, air port shuttle bus (cheaper than a taxi at 5.05 euros per person one way), etc.

We did not have a room with a balcony so it was quite small but luckily we had small bags and the room was well laid out with shelves and hanging space so it was not a problem. The bathroom and the shower were lovely – with a rain shower head in the shower, H2O bath products and giant towels! The hotel itself is also quite lovely being in an old but well maintained building with plenty of space in the lift for two people with two bags.

Above all the highlight of our stay was our interactions with two of the front desk staff, Maria and Petros (I hope I spelled that right). They always greeted us with a smile and helped us with any questions we had including restaurant recommendations, directions and Maria even managed to get us a last minute reservation for New Years Eve dinner. Thank you to both of you!

We loved this hotel and will definitely be back!

The location is perfect for restaurants and sight seeing. A short walk to the Metro. Special buses to and from the airport leave from Catalunya Square which is just a 3 or 4 minute walk. Also only a 5 minute walk to the "La Rambla" . The staff speak English and are very helpful. They had a great Garden and sitting area for their guests. Internet was free and they had a computer available. The only downside was that there were no "tea and coffee" facilities or fridge in the room.
No restaurant at the hotel but they have vouchers you can purchase for breakfast next door.

We went to Barcelona for a week and stayed at this hotel. We payed more than 900 euros and found out that when you book from their site in advance you pay much more (same dates last minute 200 euros less). In addition, due to misunderstanding no breakfast was included at this price! The room was impressively small and next to the storage area. The window overlooked a wall. The cleaning ladies forgot the door wide open after cleaning. The concierge didnt understand english (which is normal more or less for this country).
In total, I wouldnt recommend this hotel as Barcelona is a city full of other accomondation.

Dear Sir

Regarding to the comments you are adding about our hotel, let me contradict in a couple of points.

You came to the hotel in high season dates ( Christmas ), and at the time you did the reservation you knew the price you were paying and you didn't have any complain about it. you knew breakfast was not included since the begginning and that the room you had booked was a standard room, and as it describes in our website, it has no exterior views and it faces to the interior small coutyards. If by any chance you wanted a nice view and exterior, you could have added per 30€ per night the upgrade, as the rest of the guests who were staying in those rooms did. The hotel is located in a historic building so there is a law which forbides to modify walls and doors and ceilings. This is one of the most important attractives of our hotel. You could have found something cheaper if you didn't agree with our rates at the time of reservation in other places of Barcelona, but those hotels are not in the center of Barcelona, in the nicest avenue of the city.

Everywhere around the world the hotels work similar, they add lastminute offers in their websites sometimes. You can wait until the lastminute to make the reservation, but don't expect the rate of your reservation will change in case the price decreases, as for the same right it could also increase and your reservation will not be modified in that case.

Also, and as you can see in the comments in tripadvisor, ALL my staff speaks diferent languages, and not just english... Right now in the hotel more than 7 different languages are spoken between all my staff.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions you may have regarding this matter.

Best regards

We stayed here because of the hotel location as it was our first trip to Barcelona. The staff in reception were very helpful and polite, and spoke excellent English. Our room was very modern and clean. Only complaint was that the bathroom was freezing!
There's a restaurant next door for breakfast and so many places to eat dinner that we were spoilt for choice.
Would certainly recommend the bus tours on your first day as you get a better feel for the city.
I loved Barcelona and would definitely stay at this hotel again - probably in the early summer so we could enjoy the lovely rooftop terrace.

Although the weather in Barcelona was great for December- 14C with sun, it was cold in the hotelroom. It is an old building with high ceiling, pretty rooms, modern decoration.

There was airconditioner which we used for pumping warm air into the room. Bathroom+toilet did not have this possibility, plus there was a window outside. It was freeeeeezing in the bathroom. Taking a shower or sitting on the toilet was a cold shock wave.

The floor is cold stone, typical for Barcelona's old buildings, and it was extremely dirty. I suppose the floor was washed once in a while, but my feet and socks were black from walking around the room.

The walls are thin and doors are not sound isolated, I could hear people talking and laughing, even sneezing in the room next to us.

GREAT, PERFECT BED!

LOCATION, you cannot beat it!!!! 5 minut walk to Plaza Catalunya. I love Rambla de Catalunya, it is quite and has great shops and restaurants.

The staff was helpful. The room was big.

I really appreciate your review and I would like to apologize you.
We know the superior rooms are so big we recommend leave one of the keys we give into the power slot all time to get the room warm at your arrival.
I am also sorry about the floor cleanliness. We will take some measures to solve it and hope you may check it coming back!
