The Catedral hotel is excellently located for central Barcelona; we stayed just the one night before boarding our cruise.

Internally the hotel is very modern and the rooms are well appointed and of a decent size. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautifully appointed. There is a central courtyard that would be delightful in the summer, but otherwise there was little seating in public areas.

The only real criticsm is regarding the breakfast. The price is high at €19 and the hot selection comes beautifully presented but wasn't particularly nice to eat.

We loved this hotel! From the time we walked in the door, Alex and Pepi welcomed us and took very good care of us.

Rooms are modern, quiet and very nice. Bed comfortable, larger than expected bathroom, and enough room in the closet to store a suitcase.

Several nights we had drinks in the bar... Loved the Spanish gin and they have decent tapas.z

Centrally located and very easy to get around the city.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone!

This hotel couldn't be located in a more convenient place. Directly across the street from the Barcelona Institute for the Arts, it's walking distance from everything from the Picasso Museum to the beach (that is, if you're willing to walk for a few miles, since the beach is a bit far. But even a cab ride to La Sagrada Famille was only 6 euros, and then I walked back.) Seriously, it's TOTALLY cool to be right off of La Rambla, near all the best restaurants, shopping, museums, cathedrals, everything. It's super clean and cute and I'd totally stay there again anytime. Plus, staff is uber accommodating and all speak English - some better than others.

Thumbs Way Up for this reasonably priced, very nice hotel.

Room Tip: We had a 'superior' room, which was large and roomy with a great streetview and tiny balcony...

My dad and I recently stayed for 9 days at the Catalonia Catedral while I attended a conference. The hotel was a little difficult to find initially as it was tucked between some shops and the hotel signage was not very prominent. The airport shuttle dropped us up the road on Portal de l'Àngel and told us that cars were not allowed in front of the hotel! Do not let them tell you this. We found out later on from the hotel staff that they can pick-up and drop-off directly in front of the hotel!

From the moment we stepped in the hotel, the service from the staff was absolutely fantastic. We arrived early in the morning so the room was not ready yet. Our bags were stored away and Jessica at the front desk was very patient and helpful in pointing out the sights nearby, and the good places to eat at. She even helped us buy the hop-on and hop-off bus tickets.

When we returned to the hotel later in the afternoon, we were checked in with minimal fuss and our bags were brought up to our room. We were given Room 301 which was very spacious and very modern-looking. I was very impressed - everything looked brand-new and clean. There was even a comfortable sofa to relax on in front of the TV, and a little fridge. More importantly, they also provided a free safe in the room. The beds were very comfortable and I loved the extra-long pillows! The in-room shower had 2 different shower heads, including one that simulates falling rain - loved it!Best of all, the room was really clean and comfortable. We even had a view! The decor throughout the hotel was very hip and modern, which I loved. We didn't use the rooftop pool but it looked very inviting.

The hotel was located just round the corner from the gothic catedral and La Rambla was just a few minutes walk away. It was great to be close to everything but not right smack in the middle of the very busy and noisy La Rambla. In short, the hotel location could not be beaten and you could pretty much walk to most of the major sights. The Placa de Catalunya was just 5-10mins walk away and there were plenty of Metro stops around.

There were plenty of tapas bars and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Right next door, there was a Pans & Co, a chain restaurant which sells a version of Mediterranean fast food. They had lovely rolls with all kinds of fillings which were really cheap. Some of the meals were less than 6 Euros, and they even had a 1 Euro menu! We had quite a few breakfasts there. Very handy. There was also a tourist information centre just a few doors down.

They had the La Merce festival on while we were there so there were plenty of concerts held in front of the gothic catedral. The sound-proofing in the room was not so good and we could hear the noise from the crowds at night. However, it didn't stop us from having a good night's sleep.

The best part of the hotel by far, however, was the superb staff and the excellent service they provided. The staff always had beautiful smiles and they were always very willing to help. It helped also that they all spoke excellent English. Jessica and Adrian, in particular, deserve special mention.

Jessica was always very friendly and always happy to answer any questions we had. On the day we were to leave Barcelona, our pre-booked airport shuttle was 1 hour late in picking us up and Jessica and Adrian helped contact them repeatedly. When the shuttle finally turned up, the driver told Adrian that we had to bring our bags out to the street behind the hotel where he was parked. As we had already checked out, the hotel staff could have easily left us to drag our heavy bags ourselves but Adrian was fantastic. He promptly got all our bags onto the hotel trolley and pushed the trolley with the heavy bags all the way to where the shuttle was parked. Bless him! We were very grateful for the help extended by both of them - thank you, Jessica and Adrian! Very impressed by the 5-star service and would definitely return here to stay!

Room Tip: Room 301 was fantastic - very spacious and comfortable.

We just returned from Spain and we are so impressed with this hotel. We stayed several nights before a cruise but made reservations to stay 3 more nights after the cruise. The staff made us feel like family. They did eveyrthing to make us comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. The location was wonderful for exploring and enjoying Barcelona. We walked to many of the famous sites but we just enjoyied the pedestrian streets around the hotel also. It cost a little more than we usually pay but it was well worth the money.

We just completely an 8 night day at this hotel. The accommodations were clean, modern, and well maintained. The service was great. The staff was very cooperative and helped us with restaurant recommendations, directions, and attractions nearby. The location in the El Barri Gòtic could not be beat. It was very close to restaurants, shopping, attractions, and public transportation. We were very happy with this hotel.

Recently returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. It exceeded our expectations. We arrived at 11am and were told by reception that a room had just become available and they let us book in early. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The location is amazing, right in the heart of the gothic quarter, with plenty of shops and restaurants on the doorstep. The room décor is very modern and not quite my choice of colours, black and grey, but that is just personal choice. There was a large bathroom with all toiletries provided, a free safe in the room, minibar, hairdryer etc. Breakfast was really lovely with an excellent selection that set us up for the day. The hotel organises free walking tours of the Old Town or a Gaudi tour. We did the Gaudi tour which was really good. All in all, we had a fabulous time in Barcelona. Would highly recommend this hotel.
