We stayed during December when the area in front of the Cathedral is bursting with Christmas Market life, and we loved this. The markets are busy but good fun and there are some great restaurants and bars right on the square. The staff gave us a warm welcome and we were escorted to our room. We were offered maps, travel advice and a welcome glass of Cava. Upon entering the room we did find it to be smaller than we expected but as the staff we so warm we didn't want to complain. Really good shower and plenty of towels but no robes which I always assume will be included. We had a drink at the bar (took 10 mins to get served because the lone waitress was serving food as well) but she was most apologetic and friendly so we didn't mind. Great selection of gin and vodka for cocktails but they are on the expensive side. Found the mini-bar to be much better value. Breakfast was delicious. Upon checking out we realised we could have upgraded for a very reasonable amount and we wished they had advised us of that option at check-in as we definitely would have handed over our cash. Overall a gem, you won't believe how amazing the location is until you stay there. The decor is clean, edgy and fun. A great place to stay and I would stay again.

Stayed at Catalonia Catedral for two nights in December 2013. From the moment you walk in through the front doors, you realise you step into a tranquil oasis. Friendly, efficient, helpful staff. Rooms immaculate - I did not stay for consecutive nights and was given the same room upon my return. Pool area fantastic, decent breakfast - (book at reception EUR12 as opposed to EUR19 online). Hotel located 100m from cathedral in Gottic area. Easy transport access - Placa Catalonia - walk down Las Ramblas, turn right and almost there. X-mas market in square in front of hotel - awesome. STAY HERE if you want to have a fantastic place to explore Barcelona. Thank you again to all the hotel staff. I shall be back!

Cannot have enough praises for this hotel. A modern, tastefully furnished and decorated hotel, in the center of the Gottic quarter in Barcelona - 100 meters from the Catedral and 100 meters from Passeig De Garcia - its main shopping street.
Add to that a very friendly staff and the ever helpful and resourceful concierges - Victor and Adrian and you are truely set.
Every tourist attraction in central Barcelona is within a short walking distance, lots of wonderful restaurants and shops in the area. Highly recommended. Will re-visit for sure.

We were on short vacation in Barcelona, mid of November 2013.
The location was just perfect. 200 ft away from the city Cathedral. The rooms are big enough to contain two parents and 5 yo child. Nice, clean, very well maintained hotel.
The staff was friendly helped promptly with every request we had.

Room Tip: Take a high floor. Breakfast is a little expensive, while food quality was average

this hotel is great. it is right in a nicer end of the city centre in Barcelona in the Catedral area. it is walking distance to literally everything you would want at any given time when visiting barcelona.

we stayed for 2 nights, upgraded from the sister hotel Catalonia Avinyo as there was some emergency works going on at the time.

The pool area is great - if not a bit "owned" by the rich people staying in the top floor penthouses/suites, as it is right outside their rooms.

the staff are nice and friendly, and the hotel layout is quite modern and unique with glass lifts and multi-level floors.

The location is the main selling point though - unlike it's sister hotel, this is nicer in decor (i believe it is 4 star and Avinyo is 3) it is not situated in a dimly lit laneway - it's out onto a main shopping square right beside the Placa de Catalunya - which is very handy for connections in and out of the city as well as bars/restaurants and other amenities.

There was no noise at night either - which is strange in Barcelona,.

overall - it's worth the money, and i would consider staying here again on future visits to this city.

This hotel is in a great location for all the sightseeing, and I have never come across such kind and accommodating staff. Alex at reception gave us great restaurant recommendations, we went to all the places he suggested and they were fantastic.

We had 6 days here in November and had a pleasant stay.
It is located very close to the Catedral which means there is a lot of pedestrian traffic all day and also at night.. Our room was okay, clean tidy and fresh but we had a problem with the window which closed but would not seal. This let noise around it and into the room, keeping us awake with bar noise and bin lorries at strange times. We spoke to reception who moved us to a superior room on the front of the hotel. This had a balcony and a little more space but all other aspects appeared the same. The doors to the patio did not shut properly and we had another noisy night. We spoke to reception who came up and with brute force it was shut. Apparently they have to be shut as it is law, the balconies are not safe all around the city so you are not allowed to use them....bizarre.
We could still here traffic - mainly bin lorries and the wheels of cases along the pavement but it was an improvement. It would have been much more pleasant had we been able to get fresh air into the room in the day but we had to rely on a slightly noisy air con system.
The hotel did not appear very busy as it was just out of season. All aspects of it are very modern from the glass lifts to the bedrooms which are functional and a little sterile. The bathrooms were well equipped but the piece de resistance was the bed. Fantastic, it was very very comfortable .
We were on B & B which consisted of a buffet of meats, cheeses, fruits, breads etc , plentiful in choice and reasonable quality. The disappointment was the hot plates, which weren't hot.
They had a section for bacon, scrambled, fried eggs, mushrooms, omelettes and more under a canopy that was warm ish . The food wasn't warm, I suspect this is a Spanish thing in that they do not keep it piping hot like we do in the UK. This spoilt it somewhat. On the last day we were in early at 720 albeit a little reluctantly as they open at 730. The hot foods were already out , going cold. I had some eggs which were already going past their best. Maybe this needs attention.
Other than that the staff were very helpful, especially Victor and Alex, thanks for your help with our window issues !! It is in a very central location so walking and metro close at hand.
It was certainly worth the money and overall we were more than happy but tripadvisor doesn't have a rating between average and very good, 3.5 stars from us.

Room Tip: One with a window that seals !
