“Late night drink”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2012

Stopped at this little bar / restaurant a couple of times for a drink whilst on a weekend break to Barcelona. Sat outside and enjoyed a coffee and a beer then was pleasantly surprised at the cost, it was so cheap !! compare it with la Rambla and you will pay 3 times the amount . Nice atmosphere inside as well as quick service and english speaking, which helps.. 10/10

“Typical Spanish / Catalan Restaurant For Local Cuisine and Ambience”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2009

As far as "tipica" of the region you can not go far wrong with this restaurant for atmosphere and conversation, however you should be able to speak at least a little Spanish to ensure good service.

The establishment is cafetria in style and quality with small tables and relatively inexpensive food compared to surrounding restaurants but if you prefer good food to value then I would recommend paying just that little bit more. We ordered a bottle of house Rioja Tempranillo for €10 which accompanied by some dishes to share would have been ample, the menu is varied and we were looking for a simple satisfying dish so took the non-Spanish option of an Entrecote steak medium rare and good old half roast chicken... both arrived dreadfully overcooked and stone cold which is an achievment in itself. Total bill circa €50 better spent elsewhere to be frank...

I couldn't help feeling that non-Catalonians are not really welcome but their cash is, whilst speaking the language we were treated differently but on realisation we were British the attitude changed somewhat. Even their website is in Spanish or Catalan languange only. Thought those days were gone but apparently not, I also beleive if we'd stuck to the mainstream 'tapas style' dishes the kitchen churn out in mass the meal would have been better because it's not busy with Spaniards for no good reason.

Good location and good value, poor quality of food in that my steak was so thin you could have called it roast beef and my wife's chicken was so dry we almost added boiling water to it to rehydrate it.
