Owner description: Steel Donkeys are the first and only alternative bike rides of Barcelona! We're not about historic facts and the same daily routines that characterise other bike tours. We're about getting on a bike and exploring the hidden corners of the city, like flea markets, futuristic skyscrapers, vintage shops, secret courtyards and local beaches...Our guides are young, knowledgeable locals who were either born in Barcelona or have lived here for several years. We like to talk about the real experience of life in the city, modern politics, culture and stories. But most of all we like to have a fun relaxing day out on a bike with our new friends... you! We ride with a maximum of 8 people, although most tours are private... so you'll never feel like just another tourist on the treadmill. See you in Barcelona!

This is a fantastic way to catch all the sites on a short time frame. The tour leaders are very nice and you get to meet other people from all wound the world that are also riding on the tour.

“Do it. You won't regret it.”

Easy-going. Interesting. Enough time to admire things. Surprising stories. Great locations. Some of them quite dull in the first glance. But even more interesting to hear about. Nothing fancy and fluffy. Nothing fake. Real stories. Real places. Real, down to earth guide (we went with Edu). Time and money well spent. We had a privet tour for 15 riders and it was perfect. With less riders it's definitely even more cosy.

“The real Barcelona”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

This was a great tour which took in parts of the city which we would not otherwise had visited and were really interesting. The tour groups are kept small, which means you hear what the guide says and can ask more questions if you like. I really loved le Born area and the non-touristy market. The length and pace of the tour was great. Thanks Edu.

“Excellent private cycle tour of Barcelona”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

We booked a private tour with Edu, with specific requests for unusual street art and non-touristy places to visit. What a wonderful experience it was. He showed us interesting altered street signs, and pointed out the brothel image in the old town. Took us to a market to buy some lunch, which we enjoyed next to the market in a small alley sitting on crates . Informative, fun, unusual - Edu was an excellent guide. He also arranged for the rental of our bikes for a week at the Green Bikes store. Do yourself a favour and book a private tour with Edu. You will see parts of Barcelona that the locals are not even aware of.

“Great Tour!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

We had Valeria. She really made the tour. She was genuinely kind, funny and very knowledgeable. It was a great way to see the city and places we would have never known to visit. She covered a lot about historical information, but also interesting current events. It's a very moderate ride. More like a walking tour with bikes in between sites to cover more ground. It ran about 4 hours and as a group we decided to stop for a drink because it was a hot day. But they let the group decide if they want to keep going to see more or stop. We had about 8 people in our group. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona!
