It's a cheap option for people staying in dorms. You are more like a guest in someone's house here than in a hostel. It's a small space so you will interact with other travelers and staff. It was warm in the spring so it probably wouldn't be best to stay in the summer. It's a really fantastic location, walking distance from a lot of sights. There is no sign for the hostel but you can ring bell 2.2 at its address to get into it. You should receive more info in an email after booking. There is also a 20 euro key deposit so make sure you have this on hand. There's also free internet.

CONS: Lack of privacy, no locks on dorms, no lockers, tiny kitchen, only 2 bathrooms (only one decent shower but hot water is constant), really warm, a bit dirty (but not too bad if you're not picky), small dorms

I would not recommend getting a private room here - you don't have privacy. Try Ona Barcelona (very nearby) for a cheap private dorm.

Room Tip: Don't get a private dorm - it's small and you don't get too much privacy

My friend and I stayed in a private room here last year and were pretty shocked, the large double room with balcony that we booked at the living room hostel turned out to be a cramped skanky room on this hostel, right next to the kitchen and the air conditioning consisted of a window looking out onto a gap between buildings with sewerage pipes running through, smelt great on a hot day! The doors on the room would barely lock and when they did u could still get in if u wanted to, to add to this the front door was never locked. Pretty terrible all round!

Close to metro and rail line. Good & friendly staff. Room a bit dated. But sufficient if you just need a place to sleep... Barcelona has so much to offer and see

We stayed in the AWA happy hostel in Barcelona (affiliated with the AWA Barcelona central hostel). We booked a private room for 60 €. The room was next to kitchen (noisy). The room was really small and you felt claustrophobic. No value for money (in case of the private room)

Nice hostel close to metro, which will take you most places you want to go. The lady at the front desk was SO nice. She told us where the closest grocery store was (couple blocks to the right out the front door) and how to avoid being pick pocketed. There is a really great terrace right off the common area, but it closes at 9, which was kind of a bummer. The rooms are small but clean and nice, all with big window and AC (but that's bad for the environment!) The hostel recycles EVERYTHING, which was awesome. That was my favorite part. There is a guy named Hovi who comes to the hostel and offers bar tours for 12 euro, and he takes you to really local places, usually with live music. He took us to a brazilian place and a place that had live reggae. That was SO awesome. The only thing I noticed is the locals kind of find tourists a pain in their bars, but no one was mean or aggressive. And Hovi is very informative about the different areas in the city. The only negative about the hostel is that you can hear everything in the rooms next to you, but have a bottle of wine before bed and you'll sleep right through it! Definitely stay here if you are in barcelona!

And tell Hovi Shannon and the girls from Canada really loved his tour!!

Perfect location right next to Gaudi buildings. The building of the place itself is really nice and everything is well decorated and clean with high cielings...
Staff were so helpful, we had such nice time out in terrace having dinners all of us.
We felt at home in Barcelona because of that place. Highly recommended.

I had such a great experience here, and so did all the other travellers i met there. Location is great, right in the centre of barcelona. Next to all these expensive stores like Chanel. 2 min walk away from a metro station. And next to a beautiful fountain.

The staff are reallly nice, very helpful in all aspects. Asking them about trains, where to go for night outs they were so useful!

The other travellers were also really nice, the atmosphere was great.

The dorms where standard, beds were comfy and wasnt that noisy at night or anything, depends on who u sleep with really.

We got served breakfast because the kitchen was under reveonation, and that was superb.

They also have a laptop with internet that you can use for free!

Overall i would stay again, its amazing :)
