This is the oldest quarter of the town, with medieval and renaissance palaces, narrow cobbled stones, a very beautiful Cathedraland a gorgeous museum on the story of the town, which I highly recommend to visit.
Just stroll along the streets to soak up the beautiful atmosphere of the most authentic Barcelona!

Didn't do anything special here but I'd say this is a newer area for tourism, seemed more full of twenty somethings (with all due respect...) and great opprotunity for boutiques and such.
Give it a walk, close enough to subway stations and the water, why not ??

This is a place that needs many visits to appreciate. Streets and buildings from the middle ages. I found the Jewish "EL CAL" Neighborhood to be very interesting, there is a two Euro donation to go into the museum. I spent hours and hours in the neighborhood visiting the many shops, small bars and small restaurants.

You should spend at least half a day exploring this area. There are some great places to eat and shop. Just bring your best walking shoes and get lost in one of the bylanes. That's the true way to enjoy a city as a tourist in my opinion. Pretty long queue to get inside the cathedral, but it was August, so expected.

Definitely worth a stroll if you like old cities (I do). There are all sorts of interesting shops and museums. If you're there on a Sunday at midday you can see locals dancing outside the main cathedral after Mass
