“Wonderful Area to Spend Time Getting to know Barcelona”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

The Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter) is a fantastic area to spend the day or if you have less time the afternoon walking around to absorb the culture, history and ambiance of Barcelona. The area is charming and is filled with old world architecture including the old style gas lamps, alley ways, building facads, etc., and you can imagine what life must have been during the height of its period. The first time I experienced this area was back in 1975 and have been back four more times. Many shops and cafes have popped up in the Quarter but the architecture and charm still remain. The area is vibrant and all ages will enjoy their time spent here.

The area is very busy most times of the day so watch your pockets and purses.

“A nice and touristic place”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Take care when you visit this place, many pickpockets in this crowdy borough. The streets are narrow and very typical. A lot of restaurant at affordable prices.

“Very Old”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

I loved the small streets, obviously built before there were cars because the occasional car can barely get through. But so noisy at night. The people out at night may not realize how loud their voices are echoing off the 5 or 6 story buildings surrounding the squares. I stayed in an airbnb room in someone's flat, and the building was ancient, but quite functional and clean.

“Really impressive”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

The Gothic quarter has several of the attractions I enjoyed most in Barcelona including the Picasso museum and the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar. It's also great just to wander around there, really interesting history and visually really impressive.

“Fun, Intriguing Area of Barcelona”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

My wife and I spent an afternoon walking the narrow winding streets of Barri Gotic. What a treat. Then shops, are fantastic and varied and we had a great lunch there as well. Wonderful way to spend an afternoon or morning.
