La Boqueria is one of the most famous food markets in Barcelona! Definitely not to be missed! I found it refreshing to go here after seeing hundreds of clothing store everyday. The location is also very strategic, right in the center of Las Ramblas.

Well.. you can find any food you want here. From candies, fruits, vegetables, everything! This place is definitely a treat for your eyes, ears and tongue! Do not forget to stop and eat at the legendary Pinotxo Bar!

Fresh food and produce, cheeses and meats galore. A great place to take children and yourselves to see and smell different foods you wouldn't normally have access to.

There's lots fruit, choc, and hams stalls, all that would make great gifts or just to eat! Great fruit selection to buy, but unless you have a kitchen in your hotel, there's a lot of foods you wouldn't be able to buy.

Be careful who you buy from - some market traders treat tourists like they're stupid or are generally impatient. We were fortunate to find really helpful staff when we bought some hams, trying to explain to us how the animals lived, and offered tasting bites with no pressure to buy.

Many cities have city markets, each with their own unique charm and vibe. La Boqueria is no different. It's quite large and is filled with both usual stalls and some unusual ones. I loved the fish stalls both because of the variety and the presentation - different and creative! The fruit stalls were like impressionist paintings, and the meat stalls cried out for sampling. But nothing like seeing the stalls that cater to the "nasty bits" - tripe, brain, heart, to really remind you that you are in a place that caters to all tastes. Even if you buy nothing, your senses will be filled after wandering around for 30 minutes!

That is one of the simplest but most interesting attractions in BCN.
You can walk in there see fish, fresh fruits, tapes, crab and shrimps, sweets, chilli, and many others. All in one place.
You will love the place and probably would want to visit it every day.
Advice dont eat there, they treat tourists in a very theefy way. A lunch for two there, on a bar, costed us more than 50 Euros. The invoice doenst show any details, so you cant even negotiate.
Another advice, make sure the fruits you buy are fresh and edible. Sometimes they offer immature fruits.

Really enjoyed this - a vast display of meat, fish, veg, fruit, little cafe/bars. Just walk up La Ramblas and on your left - we went twice and breakfasted there.
