Owner description: Park Guell is one of the masterpieces of the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, who projected it in 1900. Inaugurated as a public park in 1926, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, reconizing its patrimonial and cultural value as a symbol of modern architecture, being one of the biggest exponents of Gaudi's modernism. This playful urban park, the work of architect Antoni Gaudi, features peaceful greens, winding paths and many sculptures and mosaics designed by Gaudi himself. We recommend the following options for ensuring that you arrive on time at the Park Guell Monument Precinct: - Metro (green line, get off at Lesseps or Vallcarca). When you leave the station, you’ll have a walk of about 20-25 minutes. - City bus (lines H6 and 32). When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 15 minutes. - City bus (lines 92 and 24). When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 5 minutes. - Barcelona City Tour and Bus Turistic. When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 10 minutes. - Taxi to Park Guell

We were on a schedule and just ran out of time. We decided not to go in, but we did walk around the park and that was a treat by itself.

This park makes you feel like you are in a fairy tale. The mosaic work is unbelievably beautiful and the features for recycling water way ahead of the time when it was built.

We decided to take the metro to get to Parc Guell. Unfortunately when we came out at street level, the signage was very poor. As I speak some Spanish I was able to ask locals for directions and eventually found the escalators which took us a good way up the hill. At the top of the hill the steps to the entrance to Parc Guell were under maintenance and so we had a further diversion. We did get into the free part but there were many paths blocked by maintenance work. We did manage to get to the highest point to take photos over Barcelona but other than that it was not a particularly pleasant experience. Unfortunately we didn’t go into the part containing the Gaudi “exhibits” as we had timed tickets for Sagrada Familia and hadn’t left ourselves enough time. We did look over from a higher spot and see some of the buildings.

We spent a couple of hours visiting the park after spending the morning at his masterpiece, la Sagrada Familia. His whimsical approach to everything he built reminds one of the imagination of JRR Tolkien and Walt Disney. Every structure surprised him with his originality that all blend together to make it a unique architectural gem

You need to book a time slot before you turn up otherwise you are likely to have a long wait. I enjoyed the walk around the park more than the visit to the Gaudi area as it was so busy. Maybe quieter in winter. Good views of the city.
