As you can see from the photos, this hotel is luxurious and located right on the sea. We had a beautiful view of a marina and the Mediterranean Sea from our 11th floor room. The decor is brown and silver, luxe modern. The fresh flowers throughout the public areas are all in white and add a lot of glamor. As one of Marriott's best hotels, all of this was expected. What I didn't expect was the personal attention and genuine friendliness of all the staff. From the reception desk to the concierge to the doorman, everyone was lovely. English is spoken very well all over the hotel, which was good for us because our Spanish is minimal. Even better, everyone seemed happy to chat and ask about our plans and our trip, etc. Very welcoming staff.

We did have a few issues with our room. The safe would not unlock, the sink drain wouldn't stay open, and the shower faucet came right off in my hand. But with one phone call, the staff responded IMMEDIATELY, with great courtesy. A manager was at our door in minutes. He wanted to give us a new room, since we'd just gotten there, but the hotel was 100% booked. He was very apologetic and stayed while housekeeping and maintenance worked on the problems. It is hard to be upset when all the staff are sincerely and quickly trying to set the room to rights. We weren't inconvenienced more than half an hour or so, but the manager still sent champagne and an apology note to us. Hotel Arts gets an A+ for handling a problem so quickly and nicely.

There is a casino on site, and being a hotel guest gets you in without a cover charge. We didn't stay long, though, because the casino lacks ambiance. It's very plain with industrial carpeting and a basic bar. Still, if gambling is your thing, this would be convenient.

We used the metro and the bus system to visit La Sagrada Familia and Las Ramblas. The concierge provided the metro maps, and it was all very simple to use, even for non-Spanish speakers like us. The bus stops right outside the hotel, and the metro station is maybe two blocks away from the hotel. Inexpensive and convenient. We took a taxi to the cruise terminal, and the cost was low. (It was just a week ago, but I've already forgotten how much--maybe 20 Euros.)

In short, this is a highly-rated luxury hotel, and it deserves its good reputation. The views of the sea are spectacular, the ease of transportation around the city is great, but the best part of all are the friendly and helpful people who work here.

I stayed here for two nights at a business event. This is a great hotel with wonderful staff in a great location. But, and it is a big but, any extras are very expensive. I did wonder whether to write a review as the sort of people that would stay in this luxury hotel would not be the sort that worriy about the price. Nor would they write in TripAdvisor I thought. But I see many reviews so let me add my comments.

There are many positives, as mentioned by other reviewers. What lets the show down, in my opinion:
- there is a nice Nespresso coffee machine in the room but you pay four euros for each capsule. In many hotel stays around the world, rooms with coffee makers have always included at least two coffees per day in the room rate
- another couple ordered two mojito drinks at the poolside and were surprised to be charged forty euros
- a friend used the hotel sauna and was charged forty euros
- the outdoor pool in unheaed. Ok for summer but very chilly in May

So if you don't think about money, this really is a wonderful hotel. If you do watch your pennies, then be prepared for a big extras bill.

Stayed here June/July 2011 for 3 nights. The location is great, overlooking the port and beach. The food served within the complex is also very good. We ate in the bar on the top floor as we were holding an event - the views were brilliant. The staff were a mixture of Catalan, Swiss, Brazilian, Italian - all very polite. My room was 13th floor - huge - and absolutely fantastic. Clientele - American, rich Europeans and corporate parties. Overall - fantastic

I have stayed here a number of times over a 3 year period. The views are incredible and the staff are both inviting and helpful.
The bar and restaurant provides a great list of freshly made cocktails, juices and amazing food. In the summer, the terrace is great for a dip in the pool or to watch the sunrise/set with a glass in hand.
A bit pricey at times, it is a great way to get away from reality for a while.

I stayed at the Hotel Arts in MAY 2012. VERY nice interiors and rooms. Curtains and lighting systems all controlled by a panel near your bed. I stayed on the 9th floor, but I still could hear the traffic from below. The hotel is located on a Very large round-a-bout and see quite alot of cars all day and night long. I was a little surprised that I could hear it from the 9th floor and through the thick glass. Pillow and linens were very soft and comfortable. No issues with this hotel whatsoever.

Good location right at the seaside, and a short walk to the casino, and MANY restaurants, If you want to go to the town and shop, you will have to walk 2-3 km to get there...or taxi of course.
WARNING - Do NOT eat the little jars of nuts they give you on your night table. As good as they may seem, they are 15 euros EACH! This is a high price to pay for a handful of nuts, i don't care where you are in the world! The reason i ate them is I could not find the menu of prices right away, and took a change as I just landed and was a little hungry. I did end of finding the menu, and nearly had a heart attack! you have been warned!

Room Tip: Get a corner room s it has windows on 2 sides facing the city or the ocean

Stayed at this amazing property for 4 days last week. Great hotel, impeccable service, personal attention and serious attention to detail, everyone knows your name and the food is brilliant. The employees make an effort to engage with you and that makes all the different. They are not only good at what they do, but they all look like they are enjoying spending their time on you. Rooms are lovely and we had an amazing view of the beach to one side and the Cathedral to another in the distance. Location is pretty good too being close to the beach and you have easy access to all the nice beach restaurants and bars as well. Ramblas and Port Vell is an easy walking distance and so is the train station for access to other part of this beautiful city.
