On my recent trip to Spain, I stayed at four 5-star hotels (Alfonso XIII Hotel in Seville, AC Palacio Santa Paula in Granada, Hotel Arts in Barcelona).
Out of these, Hotel Arts in Barcelona was my absolute favorite stay. Because this hotel is in a skyscraper a bit removed from the city center, it can afford to use space much more luxuriously. The result is stunning. You walk in the hotel and immediately are stuck by the upscale, modern environment full of light and breeziness. Frankly, it was an uplifting change for us after being in hotels in historical buildings that fight for space in the central districts of town.
I was initially worried about being away from the town center, but this location definitely has its advantages once you decide to forgo walking. Being close to the marina allows you to enjoy the airy, balmy, stress free side of Barcelona. There is no traffic in the vicinity so once you hop into a cab, the city center is an easy 5 min away. If you are fixated on doing the tourist thing, the red double decker tourist buses also leave right around the corner.
Needless to say, the service, the cleanliness, the rooms, everything was perfect.More
