“Perfect way to start the trip!”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

The reviews for this wine and tapas tour were so good, we signed up and I am so glad we did! Great way to start the trip. My husband, daughter and I arrived at the restaurant, met the rest of the group and our tour guide Maria. She did an amazing job telling us the history of the city, especially the Gothic Quarter, local places to eat, shop and answered all of our questions - very knowledgeable! She took us to places around the area, down the small side streets, that we would never have found on our own. Food and wine were terrific - definitely got your moneys worth!

“A pleasant introduction to Barcelona”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

When my wife and I signed up for this evening tour, we were hoping for nothing more than that it help us adjust to the local time upon our afternoon arrival in Barcelona. We were pleasantly surprised, and enjoyed the tour tremendously. The group gathered in one restaurant, a short walk from our hotel, where we all enjoyed a glass of wine and a few small bites. From there we walked through one of the city markets to a second restaurant, where we all shared four or five different tapas along with some sangria, and ended up at a third, where we were able each to choose three pintxos from the bar, along with one more glass of wine.

There were eight other people in our group, which made for a comfortable size, such that we could walk together and hear our guide easily amidst the street noise and bustle. Everyone was nice, and we were all roughly in the same age range. We enjoyed seeing the city on foot, and the exercise helped us burn off some of the tapas (hopefully). We received an ample amount of food and drink for the price, and we thought our guide Encarna did a wonderful job keeping us all together, even while allowing us to browse among various stalls in the city market. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her city, and her excitement kept us engaged as well. We asked her for some additional restaurant suggestions, and she provided us with several good options.

All in all, it was an enjoyable introduction to the city, starting off our vacation on a great note. I would enjoy taking another tour led by the same group if it was as well-run as this one.

“Tapas evening walking tour of Barcelona. Excellent - 4 May 14”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

We meet our guide Maria, at the designated bar, meet the rest of the group and enjoyed the first of the Tapas and wine, we then started walking to the next point. Maria was very knowledgeable and recommended local places to get good food. This was a really good introduction to Barcelona and I am really glad that we did this on the first night as it really orientated the city for us, and highlighted the areas we wanted to visit again. Do this tour your first night in Barcelona!

“Tapas Walking Tour”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

This was an amazing experience. We had an excellent guide in Nico whose immense knowledge was only outdone by his charm and sense of humour! He was a pleasure to be with. We had a really entertaining and informative evening, learning so much about the Gothic quarter and its history and Nico's knowledge wasn't limited to the history of the area - he introduced us to Nougat, told us where to find good olive oil, recounted amusing stories, explained about wine and tapas and generally looked after us really well. Our only criticism is not of Nico or Food Wine Tours but for the company, Get your Guide, which booked the tour for us. We were told it would take approximately 2.5 hours when in fact it was scheduled for at least 3.5 hours. We had to miss our last tapas experience because we ran out of time before our next appointment. So, we recommend you take a tour, don't book anything afterwards and certainly don't worry about going our for dinner afterwards as the Tapas are amazing and very filling! Enjoy! Thanks Nico!

“Perfect mix of food and history, and a great intro to Barcelona.”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

It was hard to choose operator for a tapas tour in advance, but Food Wine Tours was a very good choice. Our guide Nicholas, was entusiastic and knowledgable, and it was a great intro to Barcelaona on our first day there. The tour took us into streets and interesting places, that we surely would had missed out and we came back to many of the places he recommended. The tour was a perfect mix of history, info and food&wine. The food marked was just incredible. "Our" group came from all over the world, and it was a really nice and fun evening.

The tapas was also really good!
