“Great Hotel in Barcelona”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

We just got back from Barcelona and had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Reding. It is a great little hotel, great location, wonderful, helpful staff!! I would stay here again. A real bonus is the free use of computers and printers for all those vacation documents you need during your trip!! If I have the pleasure of returning to this wonderful city, I would stay here again!

The position is excellent, only a 5 minutes walk from Place de Catalunya and a couple of seconds from the subway stop "universitat". Which means you can easily get to the hotel with the renfe train and then the subway, or even better with the aerobus right from placa de catalunya. the hotel is clean and offers everything a tourist might need, including wifi, and two pc in the hall for your needs. all the rooms have the cofee machine. the reason i' not giving 5 stars is because the walls are very thin and you can hear people walking or the room service from the other rooms or the corridor. and the safety box is in the room is an extra 5€ per day

Room Tip: not on the first floor

We chose Hotel Reding for our 3-night Barcelona holiday based on value and ratings. At around 120 Euros, it's not cheap by any means, but breakfast was included and it was cheaper than most comparable hotels in the area.

Pros: The rooms were very clean and the staff was friendly. The location is also quite good- just a five minute walk to the northern part of Las Ramblas.

Cons: The air conditioning was either not working or not yet turned on and the room got quite warm. This was fixed easy enough by leaving the windows open, but that let in some street noise. Also, the beds were quite firm and not very comfortable. The only other downside to mention was the breakfast area. While the food was good, the buffet area was very small and congested.

Overall, it was a good hotel with nothing to really set it apart either positively or negatively.

I have to say that this hotel has a lot going for it. It's location is excellent- a central location and very helpful, courteous staff. A nice little touch was the complimentary Cava!

Unfortunately, we had asked for a quiet room...and it might have been if we hadn't been forced to keep the window open. It was 26C in the room and the only solution was an open window and a fan. The fan did its best to cover up the noise from the street but it was hardly comfortable or effective. It also provided a rather candid view of our neighbors across the street as well as ourselves! Perhaps room temperature should dictate when to switch on the air?

This is a small 3 star hotel in a central Barcelona location a short walk from Placa de Catalyuna and Placa Universtitad. We booked this through Cresta. The hotel bedroom was small with a large but not particularly comfortable bed. The air conditioning had been switched off and the room was hot and stuffy at night. The bathroom was clean with bath and shower. Breakfast was included in the price but the basement breakfast was small and claustrophobic for the number of customers frequenting. Overall the premises was adequate but nothing spectacular and I wouldn't use it again.

After trawling through hundreds of hotels in the city I came across this hotel quite by chance on Groupon. Checked it out on Trip Advisor and subsequently booked it for last weekend. First time in Barcelona and as we arrived at night we travelled by taxi to hotel. About 20 minutes and 30 euro (tip included). Absolutely lovely receptionist Katya welcomed us and was helpfulness personified throughout weekend. First night very noisy as our room was at front of hotel and there is a bar at the end of the street so asked for a transfer to a quieter room the next morning and that was sorted no problem. Both of our rooms were spotlessly clean, roomy and comfortable and had facilities for making coffee and tea and had a full fridge of drinks and snacks. Only thing I had to ask for was an iron. The second room had a trouser press. There was a wide selection for breakfast with a variety of fruit juices, yoghurts, cereals, fruits - dried and fresh, meats, cheeses, breads and pastries. The hotel is just minutes from the Placa Catalunya where you can pick up all the tour buses and also the Airport Bus and also just round the corner is Julia Travel where you can organise other tours. As we only had a weekend we did both the orange and green line open top tours on the first day which gave us an idea of the layout of the city. The second day we booked the tour to Girona and Figueres to see the Dali museum. Expensive but with time at premium it made sense to do it this way. If you're in no rush I would skip Girona and make your own way to Figueres and spend the day there. Dali museum well worth the visit. Next day spent strolling up La Ramblas, popping in to the market and in to the aquarium which was definitely not worth the entrance fee. However it was our last day so not enough time to explore any museums. Loads of lovely coffee shops and a beautiful city into the bargain. Although it was a very short trip what we did gave us a taste of the city and I have a good idea what I'd like to go back and explore. As regards pick pockets (and they do seem to be the first thing people mention when you say you are going to Barcelona) we had no problems and I think if you show the usual caution that you would in any large city and maybe check up on any scams that might be currently on the go you shouldn't worry. Smashing hotel in a smashing city.

Room Tip: Rooms at back of hotel (away from the street) would be quieter.
