Enjoyed a long weekend in Barcelona. This hotel is very well situated on the Placa Catalunya, near all sorts of sights. Rooms are large and very clean, restaurant, two lifts, and a lounge. Approximately five minutes walk to Las Ramblas. Shopping and food just outside the door. Catch the double decker hop on/ hop off bus one block away. Bus stop from airport is less than 5 min to hotel. I would recommend, and plan to stay here next time in Barcelona!

The hotel was recommended by a family member who was living in Barcelona for quite some time.
It is located one block from Plaza Cataluńa, a short walk to Las Ramblas, around it we had the metro station, taxis, buses, tourist bses, restaurants, cafes and shopping area.
The lobby of the hotel is very small, the rooms are confortable and nice, ours had a balcony and with breakfast included, the higher the floor, less noise.
The food is ok, but the coffee was not good.
Great loation to stay if you go for a few days as a tourist.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less street noise. Rooms with Balcony are a great choice if it is cool outside.

Lovely hotel right in the middle of all the attractions, the aero bus which is a must 9.95 euros return pick up every ten minutes outside airport, takes you nearly to the door.
Lovely friendly staff, nice rooms fairly large size lovely and clean, So much to see and do in Barcelona you need to come home for a rest.
Just across the road from the hotel was a shop to hire cycles a great way to see more of the city and perfect for going to the beach.

I was quite apprehensive when I first saw the hotel's plain-looking facade and small entrance. I was also a bit disappointed to learn that my room did not have a cordless kettle (one of guys from the front desk explained there was one unfortunate incident when it almost caused fire, thus was removed from the rooms). However, I was pleasantly surprised by the service I got from the staff-- housekeeping was thorough and reliable, room service was quick and the front desk guys were always warm and welcoming, giving good advice especially during the huelga nacional when most shops were closed and streets protests were ongoing. Buffet breakfast also provided delicious and ample choices of cold cuts, fruits, nuts, bread as well as a good selection of coffee and juice. Best of all, the location of the hotel made it easy for me to explore Barcelona on foot - walking to Plaza Catalunya is just around the corner, strolling to Las Ramblas is just few minutes away, shopping around Passeig de Gracia and Port d'angel both of which are just around the block. There are also interesting restaurants around the area and La Boqueria can be easily reached. And when I needed to rest my heels, I could easily walk back to the hotel, enjoy a short siesta and recharge for another exciting discovery of Barcelona.

We stayed here in October 2012 for 4 nights, 5 days. The location of this hotel is perfect because it's within walking distance to many tourist attractions--Plaza de Catalunya, La Rambla, La Boqueria, and Passeig de Gracia.

The hotel entrance is somewhat small, and there are typically 2 receptionists available to help with any questions you may have. I never had any problems with them understanding English, they were very friendly and eager to help. The hotel has 2 elevators to get you and your (heavy) suitcase up to the room.

Make sure to insert the room key into the small slot on the wall, inside of your hotel room, which will turn on all the power in the room. It's also a good way not to lose your key card as it's right next to the door.

The bathroom set up is a little funky, but also useful. Let me explain... Typically, the shower/tub is in the bathroom with the toilet and sink. Occasionally, I've seen the shower/tub in a separate section while the toilet and sink are together. At the Husa Barcelona, the toilet and bidet are in a separate room and the shower/sink are in another room. It's helpful when you have two people staying in there, but I think the sink being with the toilet and bidet would have made more sense.

There's nothing fancy about the decor in the room, it's pretty plain with the minimum necessities. As you enter, the toilet/bidet room is to the left, and the shower/sink room is to the right. Next, you will find the double sliding door closets to the left and the beds (depending on your set up) to the right along with 2 night stands. Beside the closet is a desk with a TV on it, a mini-fridge underneath, a chair, and lamp. The mini-fridge was really useful especially when we bought fruit from La Boqueria.

It was nice that they had free WiFi available at the hotel. Unfortunately, it went out a couple nights while we were there, and was not fixed until the next morning.

There's a bar on the 1st floor I believe. We went there one night at 9PM and it was empty and closed. Not sure what the hours are there, but would think a hotel bar would stay open until 11PM/12AM considering that in Spain people don't even have dinner until 9PM.

All in all, I enjoyed my stay at Husa Barcelona and would recommend this hotel to friends visiting the city.

We stayed here in October 2012 for along weekend. The hotel is just off Plaza Catalunya, and so ideally placed to visit all the local attractions. We had decent sized, bright, clean rooms with two beds, and bathroom and separate toilet. We didn't book breakfast, but found lots of local cafes for tea/coffee and pastries. The hotel had good double glazing so we were not bothered by city noise - something travellers sometimes complain about. We thought it offered good value and gave us a great base for our break. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and kept our luggage for our last day as we have an evening flight.

Barcelona is a wonderful city - the Gaudi stuff has to be seen (Sagrada Familia Cathedral is astonishing, Guell Park is a peaceful pretty place with great views over the city, and there are lots of wonderful Gaudi-designed town houses and apartments), Las Ramblas with the stalls and amazing La Boqueria market, the port full of wonderful boats, and just wandering around the gothic quarter with its shops, restaurants and cathedral. La Boqueria deserves a special mention - the most beautifully arranged stalls of fabulous produce. Taxis were not too dear, about £7 from Guell Park back to the Plaza Catalunya. Explore, soak up the atmosphere, eat the local food, and drink some sangria. It's fabulous and I would go back at the drop of a hat.

The downsides:
1) some of the restaurants don't serve great food (we tried one round the market which was mediocre, and the paella was nothing special), or don't give you the option to choose your own tapas - so read the menu well and choose carefully.
2) as with any city, keep your eyes peeled for traffic (there are loads of crossings, but the junctions are busy), and keep an eye on your bags/purses/cards. Nothing different from any city, but it's easy to get too relaxed and take unnecessary risks.

Have a great time!

Room Tip: More expensive rooms have balconies.
