Nice, spacious room, polite and helpful staff. Wifi a bit sketchy, though.. My stay was for free, so can't say anything about value for money, but the hotel is located quite central to most venues of the city; 1-2 stops with the metro to Guell Park, Sagrada Familia and La Rambla

Cared for hotel. Friendly staff, proactive and keen. Rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. Bar is a little "sterile" but comfortable enough. Would come again, was a business trip this time, but love Barcelona so will look to come to this hotel next time on a holiday visit to this great City.

I stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a business trip to Barcelona.
The public areas are fairly modern and reasonable, the rooms fairly standard - my bathroom could do with a bit of modernisation but everything worked as it should!
Bed reasonably comfortable, loved the big long pillow!
As an english woman Barcelona was warm, however the heating was on full blast in the room and when I tried the air con the fan just circulated the hot air.....the windows are either wide open or shut and as there was a roof outside my window I didn't feel safe leaving it open.....when asking the air con is not switched on for quite a while yet.
No drink facilities in the room, and whenever I tried to get a 'free' welcome drink it had run out.
The gym only opens at 9am, which is not much use for a business visitor....
The area was fairly quiet at nice, but it was easy to walk to the tourist spots, apart from the beach and marina areas which are really a taxi ride away.....
breakfast was Ok, but we asked if it was included in the price of the room and were told yes, only to have it show as an extra on our bill...think we could have got a much nicer breakfast outside the hotel for a fraction of the price.
But I love Barcelona, and this hotel is OK if you don't want to spend a fortune and want to be fairly near everything.

Room Tip: Ask for a window - not all the rooms have them!

My wife and I traveled to Barcelona for the new year and stayed at the Abba Balmoral. The room was nice, but we thought it was weird that the king bed was really two twin beds pushed together. It was awkward to sleep in and if my wife and I tried to cuddle little by little the two beds would begin to separate from each other. Most of the older men that work in the front desk were rude, the only pleasant people we met were the women that rarely worked the front desk. There were a few times when I went to the front desk to ask a question and one of their older male staff members ignored me, one time he was on the hotel phone taking a personal phone call and just starring at me. I speak fluent Spanish so I knew it was a personal call. The location is close to some of Gaudi's works so it makes it easy to walk to them, and the metro station is also close by. The location was good, but we would probably stay somewhere else if we would return to Barcelona.

The Abba Balmoral hosted a big meeting this week for people from around the world. For Europeans, the hotel was fine, a typical 4 star with rooms a bit on the small side and quite a few with no windows. For the US and APAC visitors, we knock a star off the rating. Our APAC visitors were not impressed.

Breakfast was very typical, meeting facilities and service were good. Laundry service was fine although I was told on Saturday when I handed in my laundry that they didn't know when I might have it back as "she is very busy."

The location is quite convenient to good shopping and food and far enough away from La Rambla to be away from crowds.

All in all, a very typical European hotel in my opinion. And to be honest, how much time do you want to spend in the hotel in a fantastic city like Barcelona?

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your opinion about our hotel.
Sincerely, we are working about our service in breakfast and meeting rooms, where we want that the guests are correctly and friendly attended.
Unfortunalty, we have few rooms without view on Via Augusta, but is used by guests who love completly silense.
I hope that the next time you came to Barcelona, you reserve our hotel. As you say in your comentary, we are in the center of the town, 10 minutes walking on Passeig the Gracia (pedrera, casa btalló), you arrive to the Ramblas...

We stayed on a business trip with a group of 35 people for three days.
Booking was handled professionally, on arrival everything worked nice, very friendly staff.
The rooms were very different, some to the street with nice views, some to a medium sized courtyard with quiet atmosphere, some to a tiny light shaft... Best rooms tended to be on higher floors and to the street (not busy at nights, but you can feel the underground trains a bit).
Style of rooms nice but a bit basic, no coffee/tea making facilities, no welcome water fruits or sweets (which I feel is a bit cheep for a 4stars hotel), no personal touches like flowers or decoration. Clean but a bit cold with stone or tiled floors. Bathroom very simple, no extra shower (shower head in the bath tub), no nice toiletries like creams or bath bubbles, only shampoo and shower gel in on the wall fixed refill containers...

Breakfast room nicely decorated, but as we normally started the day together with all 35 people and some other guests, it tended to be a bit crowded and the staff (at times only one guy, sometimes helped by second, female) was a bit overwhelmed to constantly fill up. Additionally food and drinks (which were all very nice, with some Spanish specialities) was decorated in different locations around the room, so that you have to walk four times to get an orange juice, a coffee, a croissant or bread and the toppings like ham and cheese... Staff very friendly but set-up lacks organization or optimizing.
Especially the coffee machine (producing very nice coffee, cappucchino and even decaf espresso) is clearly too small and too slow to cater for 40 people at the same time, fastely creating a queue and keeping the staff busy to refill water, coffee, cups or take away used coffee powder in between guests. Highly recommended to the hotel owner to get a bigger sized one...

Lobby very nice, modern but cosy even for a late hour glass of wine.

Location very central, easy walking distance to nice quarter Gracia, to shopping street Passeigh de Gracia, tube to all city and a direct bus line in front of the hotel to Barceloneta and beach.

Room Tip: Rooms on level three or higher, to street or courtyard, but NOT to the light shaft!
