“Very pleasant experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

The hotel is very well situated near Las Ramblas. The room was comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a plumbing problem in the bath room and when it proved to be bigger than expected we were immediately moved to another room, without fuss. The mattress on the bed was firm and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Did find that the air con got really too cold at times, and, as it is centrally controlled there is little that could be done in the room.

We were with a tour, and the first thing we discovered is that the tour bus could not unload the luggage in front of the hotel. So we had to drag our luggage a block to the hotel. The front desk was adequate but understaffed. Our specific room was very nice-updated and a reasonable size. The breakfast buffet was very nice. There was no concierge, but there were plenty of shops and restaurants very near the hotel. Overall, this was an OK experience, but we would stay at a different hotel the next time we come to Barcelona.

The room I was allocated was small and dark. There was no natural light and you could not walk around the bed without touching the walls.

The morning staff on reception confirmed that the booking included a meal allowance and accordingly I was not charged for breakfast. The evening reception staff mistakenly contradicted their colleagues and told me that I would have to pay for evening meals.

Finally there was no food available in the evenings other than room service.

The room was not made-up until the second day.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 6 days in May 2014. We both consider that we have made an excellent choice for many reasons. First of all the hotel’s location is perfect: less than 500m distance from Catalonya Square and about 50 meters from Passeig de Gracia, in an area with a lot of restaurants and cafeterias. Second, the rooms are large and clean, the beds are very comfortable and the breakfast has a large variety of foods, able to cover everybody’s preferences. And last, but not the list, the hotel’s staff, in all the levels and departments (the cleaning ladies, the restaurant employees, the reception desk) turns the place into a perfect choice, as everybody is very polite and helpful. We were especially impressed by the reception desk, a great, professional team who helped us in many ways, with a lot of useful information. But most of all, we owe a BIG thanks to Ms. Carola and to Ms. Laura Fuente. Both of the ladies were very kind with us, very helpful, polite, friendly (in a good, professional way),exceeding even our best expectations . THANK YOU!!

Some rooms have view to a tiny dark backyard. Coffee cups had lipstick on them which was disgusting. On the other hand rooms were very clean and the hotel has an excelent location. Dinners were delicious with very friendly and nice stuff.

Stayed here for one night over a weekend get-away with my wife to Barcelona.
The hotel is ok... borderline between a 3* and a 4*. The establishment is a bit worn-down and could use a refresh.

We were given a decent standard room that had a massive bed (seriously, 4 people could sleep on there), which was nice and gave it a spacious feeling while sleeping (despite the room not being that big).
The room was one of those family-friendly adjacent rooms, but had very poor isolation to such an extent that you could hear what everyone was saying in the room next door just as if you were standing right next to them (as we went to be late and woke up early it didn't bother us in terms of sleep, but there is a huge potential for that).

Breakfast had a wide variety of offering (more than most hotel breakfasts in Europe these days), which was nice, but the coffee is terrible (vending-machine style) and the orange juice seems to be one of those "powder-based" solutions.

Location-wise however this hotel is fantastic: very close to the fancy shopping places, tube station nearby, a lot of nearby restaurants (try "Tapas24" on the same street for a local tapas tasting experience) and walking distance to most of the old-town (which is ideal for the weekend).

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with internal connections between them (family-friendly) as the sound-proofing on those...

We booked this hotel on the internet from hotels.com and on their pages they have three categories of rooms. Basic, Standard and Romantic.
We went for the most expensive one the romantic....since we know that **** star hotels in the city center of Barcelona are not more than *** star.. We thought it would be wise to pay extra to get one of the better rooms. When we checked in we got room 408.. The room is 3x3 meter .... The smallest room I've ever seen. Aircon did not work and the room had a small window out to a tiny dark backyard..We went back down and asked if this was supposed to be their best room. They said they were fully booked but they would change us the day after. They showed me the booking from HOTELS.COM and it did not say ROMANTIC ROOM. Next day they did change us to a standard room 603. Which is a ok room but we had then had a terrible night and lost half a day.
The reception told us that they really didn't have any romatic rooms at all and what you pay extra for is a bottle of Cava....Stupid as we are we also paid about 125 Euros for 3 days breakfast but in the elevators there is a big sign saying Buffet breakfast only 8 Euros. The room 603 had a safe but could not be used because they couldn't find the key...If we had booked and got a standard room, paid for the breakfast on site we properly would not have complained at all. Breakfast buffet was ok and the hotel is situated very close to shopping and restaurants. Who is really earning money on us paying for something we don't get...is it hotels.com or the hotel ? I'd like to know =^..^=

Room Tip: Do not accept room 408
