I gave this hotel only 3 "stars" because while it's overall OK, it's still not great. To set the scene, I stayed there for 4 nights during the Mobile World Congress which is a massive event for a city the size of Barcelona, which means that every hotel and guesthouse is full.

On the one hand, the single room I booked (on the 5th floor) was large enough, the bed was comfy, the WiFi was free (and worked very well) and the breakfast was included. The staff spoke a decent level of English. Location was excellent, next to Plaça de Catalunya.

On the other hand, the bathroom is small, cleanliness was just OK, and the breakfast's selection was very limited and not of the best quality. Also, I paid 120€ a night while the standard rate in this hotel is 80€ a night (and according to other reviews here the price can be as low as 40€ a night), and the whole stay had to be paid in avance. Finally, my room was very noisy as the guest in the next room was snoring very loudly. Ear plugs were a must!

In the end, I might consider this hotel again (better the devil you know!) but I wouldn't stay for more than a few days.

Room Tip: Choose a room over the courtyard, which is very quiet.

Stayed here for 5 days and paid 200 € - incredible location (Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla), everything is well organized, nice and clean rooms. Very friendly and professional stuff.
Everything was great!
Would probably stay here next time in Barcelona

Having read some of the reviews before I booked this hotel I now wonder where the other reviewers that left positive remarks have been staying in the past. The central location is ok but the room I had suffered from street noise until the early the hours, and this is December hate to think about staying here in mid season. The staff are terrible most of the time to busy chatting on the phone to take care of business. The breakfast is low grade food .Some mornings they had run out of certain items by 8.30 .I stayed 3 days then left and found other acommadation.Unless you enjoy being treated like animals I cannot recommend this "Hotel".

We visited this hotel 12 years ago as a couple, but liked it enough to return this year with some friends.

The staff are helpful and made us feel most welcome. The rooms are all fine for a short stay. On both visits our room was in a quiet position but we are not bothered about street noise. Our friends had a room with a balcony which was right over the action. This is a lively city throbbing with life, so we did not expect it to be quiet. The hotel is very well positioned for getting around. Handy for the metro and you can catch the airport bus nearby.

We all loved it. Good value. Excellent position.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without a balcony you are a light sleeper.

This was the noisiest hotel that I ever stayed in. It is in a good location on a "people" street. The outside nose and people noise were so loud and went on all night so that you could not sleep. The AC was not turned on and the fan was making a loud noise when we first arrived. I complained and the hotel's maintenance men were sent up and their fix was to turn down the fan speed. While we were out, the problems were solved.
