We spent three nights here in June and it was very nice for a downtown hotel that is affordable and quiet. The quiet comes from having a room (211) facing the rear of the hotel looking over the courtyard. This is one of only three rooms with a large balcony capable of holding 4-6 people for drinks etc. It is not the largest room, but it has very high ceilings, a great AC, a very comfortable king size bed. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, preferring to go out to cafes that are less than 5 minutes away. The metro stop is 100 feet from the front door giving you infinite travel facility in the city. However, taxis are inexpensive for a major city, so we went to places via the metro and taxis on the way back. We did not encounter a rude receptionist at the hotel and checkin and check out was very easy. Our friends stayed in 102, a larger room facing the Granvia and said that the noise level was very low given the fact that the avenue is a major Barcelona street.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the rear courtyard are quiet and ask for 211 for a great spacious balcony.

Great hotel, very clean and elegantly decorated. The outside terrace was perfect for chilling out in in the evening after a long day sightseeing, it was a real treat. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was limited but what they offered was sufficient. I would highly reccommend the hotel and would definitly stay again.

This hotel is in a prime central location for getting to all the sights. It is in a quiet street. The hotel lives up to the standard it claims. Although it may look grand, all the staff are friendly and welcoming. The terrace is superb, particularly on a balmy evening, where you can sip drinks or just rest after a hectic day.

Stayed four nights in this lovely hotel in Barcelona. The decor and facade was beautiful with a colonial spice to it, its similar to their sister hotel on La Ramblas.
Welcome was very professional and the staff where very friendly and helpful. Extra cot was provided for our little baby at an extra 20 euros per night. The room was spacious and very comfortable.Bathroom was very clean and lots of towel. Breakfast was very good with variety and takeaway was allowed.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Walking distance from El cort Ingles a large shopping mall, La Ramblas, Placa Catalunya and most major attractions. You could go shopping or sight seeing and pop back to the hotel for a little rest or break.
I will recommend and most certainly return.

The hotel is very beautiful but our stay was spoiled by the rudest and most unprofessional receptionist I have ever encountered. The hotel had made a mistake with our booking and the receptionist on duty was so rude and unhelpful to us. We had a booking confirmation clearly stating that we had booked 4 bedrooms and breakfast for 3 out of the 4 bedrooms. But when we arrived, the rude receptionist told us that we didn't have breakfast booked for any of the rooms. He was incredibly rude, I could not believe how he was treating us. Eventually he stormed off and one of his colleagues came over and realised that the hotel had made a mistake with our booking and that we were in the right and that they had made a mistake. Its a beautiful hotel but the receptionist was so rude and unprofessional. His behaviour towards us was appalling. He never tried to hear us out or sort out the issue, he literally started shouting at us from the very beginning. Absolutely shocking. Can't believe this hotel employs such rude staff. We will never return to this hotel. The breakfast was also very poor.

We are truly sorry that your stay did not reach your expectations.

Whilst your feedback is very much appreciated, please be assured that your experience is not representative of our usual standards of service. We have been honoured to receive many comments from guests about the friendliness and warmth of every member of our team.

Even though the agency sent us the wrong information regarding the breakfasts that were included in your groups reservations, we have already spoke with the receptionist regarding this issue and the way that we would like this misunderstandings to be managed.

We work hard to make each and every guest's stay special at the Hotel GranVia, so we will take your comments very seriously.

We very much hope that you will give us another chance in the future.

Stayed here as part of a business meeting, with people arriving from all over the world. The staff and management of this hotel are to be complemented for their professionalism and helpfulness. On top of that, the hotel is a very high standard in terms of cleanliness, food (good breakfast buffet) , and modern decoration. The pool terrace, is a good touch, but the pool is not really big enough for swimming. But who has time to swim when you are in such an interesting and lively city? So the pool is a nice augmentation to cool off, after a hard day. If you want to exercise - turn right out of the door, right at the roundabout, and in 5 minutes you will pass through the arc de triomphe and into a nice park. If you want less exercise you have the metro 100 metres. So this hotel caters for business and pleasure and is to be thoroughly recommended.

Just returned from Barcelona last night, thought I would write my review now so I don't forget. Warm welcome on arrival and nothing was of any bother during our stay, all staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was modern, spacious, beautiful bed linen and exceptionally clean. The bathroom was a good size and had plenty of towels changed every day. We thought we were only going to get continental breakfast but cooked breakfast was available each morning. The only thing that slightly let's this hotel down is that it doesn't have a bar which after a long days walking around the city would have been nice to have a cold beer. Would definitely return to this hotel if visiting Barcelona again I think it deserves more than a 3 star rating.
