Owner description: This fascinating area is steeped in history, with city hall located in the same spot where kings once reigned. You'll find narrow streets and squares here, with Gothic mansions, museums, historic churches, bars and restaurants. The Placa del Rei is reputedly the place where King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella welcomed Columbus after his voyage to America.

Great for a walk and to be a part of the city. Lots of stores, vendors, and always crowded. Be careful with pickpockets though.

This is such a cozy, beautiful, old city. I loved walking in the city, visiting small shops, getting lost. I went here every day and took so many pictures, but still feels like it was not enough. In my next visit to Barcelona i will try to stay in hotel close to old city

Stroll through the old town is deep into the story, some streets that have for centuries people-watching and contrast with the bustle and traffic of a big city like Barcelona. it worth Having a tea at Salterio and visit the Museo de la Historia if you like Roman History.

This is a great place to have your hotel as it is the centre of Barcelona. Plenty of eateries and things 'Spanish' to browse and buy. Beware of pickpockets who operate I this area. Some shops will reduce price if you ask and haggle a bit!

Lovely area to wander through lots of very interesting buildings. A must is to visit the popular name is Boqueria’s Market (but the official name is Sant Josep’s Market) The original place was a convent burnt down in 1835. It original dates back to the 13th century when it was a meat market. There are over two hundred stalls and some lovely fish to eat stalls there are two when it is hard to get a seat selling fish meals they are very popular if you have the time to wait. The market is vast Meat, Fish and Veg. There are bars as well that serve food, if you are in Barcelona its a must.

The market is located at 101 Las Ramblas, take care its easily missed
