“Nice place to hang out with kids!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2013 via mobile

If you are traveling with little ones, they will enjoy visiting this square with its many fountains, an area with pigeons and open spaces within the square.

For the grown-ups, there enough shops and attractions around to make it an interesting outing.

A good idea is to start at the catalunya square, walk thru la ramblas (with a stop for gelato along the way!) and end up at the beautiful barri gotic area.

“To relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2013

Very much at the centre of Barcelona, you can enjoy a nice pleasant evening at Catalunya Square. There are street performers who keep you entertained, lots of people with their families and fountains & flowers which make this an excellent place to take photographs. This square is at one end of the famous Las Ramblas street and is surrounded by various food joints and show rooms including Zara. This square is also the main stop for the Hop on Hop off bus. When in Barcelona, do make it a point to spend couple of hours in the evening just relaxing at Catalunya Square.

“Very much the centre of Barcelona”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2013

Can guarantee we were here at least once every day as we had to catch the FGC from our hotel in El Putxet to Catalunya to go ANYWHERE in BCN. Lovely square which had an ice skating rink during out visit there and we found it very relaxing to sit by the water fountains and people watch. Great meeting point and great place to base the metro!

“This IS the centre of Barcelona”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2013

All streets lead to Placa de Catalunya. The top end of Las Ramblas end here. A major metro interchange station is here. The Aerobus airport bus terminal is here. You can find all the major shops here including Zara, Mango, H&M, El Corte Ingles, restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe. You can walk to the Barri Gotic through Av. Del Portal De L'Angel. All the major brands are also on De L'Angel as well as have shops surrounding the Square. If you do not plan to shop, eat or not coming here to catch the bus or train, many people just hang around the square, relax and just people watch in the shade or by the fountains. If you are looking for a hotel, you will probably seriously consider booking one around this area as it offers easy access to the most of the major attractions including those already mentioned and a 10-15 minute walk will take you to the port area with the beaches just a few more minutes away.
