that's mostly overrun by tourists. It is the center of town and is on the way to the Rambla (also a tourist strip).

This very busy location was great, had to put my 3 year old in a buggy as it was just to busy with the volume of people milling about. Loads to see and great photos can be taken at this location

Plaça de Catalunya meaning in English "Catalonia Square"; is a large square in central Barcelona that is generally considered to be both its city centre and the place where the old city (Barri Gòtic and Raval, in Ciutat Vella) and the 19th century-built Eixample meet.
Some of the city's most important streets and avenues meet at Plaça Catalunya: Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, La Rambla or Portal de l'Àngel.
The square is also one of Barcelona's most important transport hubs, both above and under ground, and Aerobus (airport shuttle)

This is a wonderful people's square......fountains, statutes and space. Take your time to enjoy the monuments and statutes as tourists tended to snap a pic and rush off. It was lovely to admire the statutes.

If you're staying close to this square you basically near to everything! Main Metro Station, Bus station, Hop-on, Hop-off Buses, Airport Buses & of course taxi stand. Apart from all the cafe's & restaurants connected with this square there's 'La Rambla' (1.2K street) which is packed with lots & lots of shops & shopping centres...great for those who love shopping! It's been known for pick pocketing but haven't suffered any of this during my stay although I was aware about it and also noticed many police attendance due to the popularity with tourists and locals....hope you found this review helpful enough...enjoy Barcelona:)
