My wife and I booked a 4th floor apartment (with terrace) in a Mercat (El Born) apartment from 4th to 7th May 2014. The Inside Barcelona website accurately reflected what is actually there.
We had no problem re the original booking or with our subsequent direct email contact with Inside Barcelona staff. Any queries or advice we requested before travelling and also whilst in Barcelona were dealt with very efficently and promptly. The staff were very professional but also warm and welcoming and could not do enough to make sure that you enjoyed your holiday.
The compact apartment located in a quite well lit street was very clean and comfortable and was absoutely great with a nice open air secluded sunny terrace. It was in a great position for a whole range of sites including the Gothic Quarter, Picasso Museum (free entry but big queues on a Sunday afternoon), Barceloneta, beaches, zoo, train station, aquarium, Port Veil, La Rambla etc. The Sagrada Familia is also within 25 minute walking distance of the apartment. There are a lot of great bars for tapas and also all manner of restaurants depending on your preferences in the immediate vicinity of the apartment. Overall a great location for exploring this part of the city.
Prior to travelling I did a lot of research online to try and identify top rated tapas bars to visit when we got to Barcelona. I strongly recommend that you don't bother. All of the supposedly top rated tapas bars are full to bursting with tourists who have all been online identifying top rated tapas bars!! We eventually ended up just trying places we liked the look of and within which we thought the customers were mostly Spanish. This paid off for us on a visit to Barceloneta when quite by chance we ate lunch in La Bombeta, Carrer de la Maquinista. Great food, very Spanish - and few tourists at the time of our visit.
Since this was our first visit to Barcelona via El Prat T2 we wondered how easy it would be to access the flat. On leaving the inside of the airport turn right and walk up to the Aerobus stance where a single ticket into Placa Catalunya cost 5.90 euros per person. On arrival at
Placa Catalunya we had a pleasant 20 minute stroll downhill to the Gothic district and to the Inside Barcelona office.
In overall terms a great short break much enhanced by having a great Inside Barcelona apartment with superb staff.
