What a dashing week we had in Barcelona. We thought of closing by giving the kids something to remember, and were looking forward to an hour of fun at the museum of ideas and inventions. But after paying the 8 euros each to get in, what we experienced was 20 minutes of disappointment. The kids activities were not on, the much publicized slide was shut for no apparent reason, staff was either absent or non existent, many of the electronic installations were either not working or turned off. The main installation room in the basement appeared as if it had hosted a hoard of bored kids for a week: a couple of dubious mattresses were leaning against a wall outside an empty neon lit room with tiny desks and a faint smell of damp. The kids first and last question was: "is this it?" The ludicrous set of gimmicky inventions left a lingering aftertaste of deception. The MIBA was a bad invention. A good idea would be to shut it.
