Alimara Barcelona Hotel

Compared to many other hotels this one is really, really cheap. Others have written that it is out of the way a bit but it takes 10 minutes to get to the centre of it all!
It is on the doorstep of Mundet metro station, there is a train every 3 or 4 minutes that takes you directly to the main stops for tourists (L3, green line).
We did not have breakfast included and it isn't worth the 15EUR per person so we only had breakfast on 1 of the days. Get some breakfast out and about! Our room had a stocked minibar and the bathroom was massive, insanely massive. Shower was really nice but I was worried about flooding the bathroom!
The hotel looked after our bags after we had checked out and were all really friendly and nice.
Really cheap and convenient location.

Room Tip: Room on the top floor for a good view!

Read reviews on tripadvisor and requested corner room on a ligher floor and they emailed me straight back and said they'd do their best and they certainly did just that! Got a lovely room with balcony. Staff exceptional (especially on reception) room spotless. Car parked under hotel in secure parking (daily charge but very reasonable we felt) 2 mins walk to metro which is preferable to driving into Barcelona. Perfect stay. Thank you!

This is just a review prior to our arrival. Phoned up the hotel just now to make sure that everything is fine with our reservation to avoid any delays. A gentleman picked up the phone who's name is Oriol Calvillo who is from the start very unpleasant and when I explained the reason why I'm calling, the answer straight away was NO! I then asked if can't you check on your system for this particular date if can you find our names ( he didn't even ask our arrival date and guest names yet), and he said NO,I CANT CHECK IT ON OUR SYSTEM. Me as a hotel receptionist itself knows that we can always check our future guests who are arriving for the next coming weeks, months and even for early next year, not unless they are using the software from the previous century. I AM JUST SO DISAPPOINTED with such level of customer service we received even prior to our arrival.

This accommodation was clean, comfortable and very affordable. The only criticism is the wifi is not free and the breakfast can be expensive for someone on a budget. It is conveniently positioned right near the metro. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We hired a car so we did not mind its being in the outskirts. Its right next to the motorway and 2 minutes walk to the metro (Mundet). Very spacious room and a very large bathroom with 2 zincs, seperate bath and shower. very clean and daily cleaning. You can park the car easily around the area. Not a very nice surrounding as it looks like surrounded by council flats. but no trouble. There is a bakery / cafe in the opposite white building and also a super market inside the white building- supermarket got a coffe shop inside it too and things are relatively cheap in the supermarket. 500 ml water bottle 20 cents. Its €1 in the city. You need to buy and put it in the mini fridge to cool.

Room Tip: Try and avoid room facing the motorway to avoid noise in the night

Despite being out of the city centre, Alimara is very close to the Metro (Mundet station, line 3) and its only 10 minutes to Diagonal and around 20 to Liceu.
We had breakfast the first morning, costing €14.50. This was expensive and there was not a great range of food. I would not recommend eating breakfast here.
The twin room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The wifi in the hall is slow and painful. Wifi can be bought for €6 for 24 hours. This was disappointing.
There is a supermarket close by which came in handy, as well as a cafe and bar.

Hotel is on the outskirts of Barcelona still easily reach by metro line L3. Metro station Mundet is just behind the hotel. Half an hour from city centre. Somehow scary neighborhood at night. Check in was prompt and room we got was very good. Clean, decent size, modern design, LCD TV with english ch, safebox, minibar. Huge bathroom with all ammenities. Breakfast is expensive but there are several cafes around.
