“very clean, small but cheap accommodation”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

The first stay, when we arrived they asked if we want a room with balcony. It´s 4,50 - 7 € (depends on your stay). So we took the room with balcony which is much better than the other rooms. It´s more quiet (its 8th floor to the street but no problem) and much bigger. The second stay (after our trip to valencia) we booked VIA AUGUSTA again, because it was very nice and cheap. But this time we didn´t took the room with balcony. Now we got a room to the back, it was a very dark and ugly sight and we didn´t know if it was day or night. And it was not so quiet, because we stayed near the lift.
But all in all...it was very very clean, the staff is kind, the hotel is not expensive, its in the area gracia - close to park guell (15 min walk). The metrostation is 1 min walk away and you can also walk to the rambla (30 min - nice walk).

If you want a hotel which is more in the central you need to pay more. But if you have time and want to explore barcelona you´re right here!

Room Tip: room with balcony - pay a little more its worth

Great choice, great staff and a must if you are planning to go to Barcelona as it has everything you are looking for very close to the hotel. you can rely on the advice given at the reception. Delicious breakfast, very confortable rooms, very nice terrace on the 9th floor with a great view over the city.

Our family, with2 adults and one child had a trip in Barcelona and the room which we had was one of the excellent and well kept rooms, with no worries on the splendid wholesome breakfast of Spanish omelets, cereals, croissants all fresh.
We also got some goods tips from the reception lady, when we checked in on the 23rd evening.
Overall our experience was simply awesome and we had a ball .
Great work guys and keep it up

Room Tip: Prefer room facing back of the building as it doesn't face main road, so less disturbance

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights on our first trip to Barcelona and absolutely loved it. The neighborhood is full of great shops and cafes, and a fabulous food market. The metro is a short walk, 5 mins, or you can walk to the center of town in 20 mins. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast buffet was well organized and plentiful. Highly recommend if you want a reasonable place out of the vida loca!

The localization is medium localization but the rooms are clean. The price is fair. Typical urban hotel for a couple of nights. Nice breakfast, the staff did his job. It's a good B&B to stay if you want to stay a weekend at Barcelona.

Pros: 1. Great transit access. Gracia metro is very close. The area is two metro stops from the heart of Barcelona at Placa de Catalunya/Las Ramblas area (taking about 6-8 minutes to get there) without the noise or bustle of the center.
We were also easily able to take the l5 from Provenca stop (on l6 or 7, one stop from Gracia) to Barcelona-Sants for the train.
2. Front desk staff spoke English.
3. Our room had ample square footage and closet space, and was clean. Room (6th floor) had good natural light, and had a window we could open for some fresh air, which we enjoyed because there was some open space right next to our side of the hotel.
4. WiFi worked well in the room.

Cons: 1. The *beds* - I have never encountered thinner pillows or a more uncomfortable mattress at a hotel in either Spain, or Europe in general to date. Only one thin pillow (see photo) per occupant was provided, with no extras in closets. The mattress in our room had a plastic type covering - I guess it helps to prevent bug infestations but it is not good for a restful night's sleep. Upside is - if you are dead tired (like our first night), you will sleep through the discomfort. 2. Staff could be a bit more helpful. We needed to exchange currency and asked the concierge. He said to go to Pl. Catalunya where there are "lots of banks". Well, all banks don't exchange currency and we ended up walking the whole perimeter of the plaza before finding BBVA.

Still, overall, an acceptable choice of hotel if available for 60 -70 eur/ night, and duration of stay is about 2 nights.

Dear Mr. Sam_I_Am_Boise,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

We are glad about your postives opinions about our location and our room size.

I am sorry for the inconvenience you had with our mattress and pillows. I apologize that you had just 2 pillows. Each double room should have, at least one more pillow inside the closet, because refered to pillows there are so differents opinions, We are very sorry that you could not notice it, because we could have provide it to you. About the mattresses, we have the conventional covering that you could find in a lot of hotels, but the reason is that it helps for a hygienic reason because we wash for a every new customer and then the mattresses stay clean.

About the staff I am sorry that our receptionist do not informed to you about the regular recommendation that we should inform to our customers that want to exchange currency, at Via Augusta 81 in Banco Santander. If it is closed because is weekend, then we recommend to go to the exchange offices at Pl. Catalunya area.

Once again my sincere apologies.

Very good breakfast. Daily change of towels. Free WiFi in all hotel area. Close to metro station Fontana and a breath away from train station Gracia. If you are not looking for luxury, it is a cosy hotel. Please, do your best and put mini fridges in the rooms. It would be a super plus. Staff was friendly and English speaking. Thank you all.
