Hotel Catalonia Sagrada Familia

Great about the hotel:
- great location (only approx. 150 meters from the metro stop)
- the staff is very friendly and professional
- it has a swimmingpool
- food in the hotel's restaurant was very delicious (had some salad there)
- rooms are "renovated" and the kingsize beds are nice
- the hotel is clean and kind of cute in it's own way

Not too great about the hotel:
- although it has a swimming pool it's not a rooftop pool. It's in the second floor and the sunlight doesn't reach the pool area until near noon. And the swimmingpool is very tiny.
- altough the rooms have had some facelift the renovation's been done in a rush (or with very little money) and you can see that in the room. Rooms are so tiny that it's hard to open your suitcase there. The bathroom hasn't had a renovation touch since the 1970's but it's okay though.

Still would recommend this. It's not luxurious but neither is the cost. :)

We stayed for a 3 night long weekend stay in August and couldn't fault the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and all spoke great English. The bar is really nice and very reasonable and the pool is an added bonus at the end of a long day walking round the city. The room itself is more than adequate with a large tv and a nice bathroom. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the Cathedral which is where you can also get the tour bus.It takes about half an hour to walk it to the beach but is worth the walk.It is probably worth getting a taxi to Le Rambla as we walked it one day but got taxis at around 10 euros the rest of the time.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front but on a high floor.

We stayed for a long weekend and were happy to book a 3 star hotel as we knew we'd be exploring most of the time. We were very happy with the hotel on this basis. The rooms are clean and functional. The location is very good to get the metro into the centre. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I read someone mentioned about missing net curtains in the room and I'd say the same, this would be a good improvement.

We'd probably stay again using it as a base for Barca.

Hotel was clean with good facilities. The pool is small but fine for a quick dip to cool off. We never had breakfast as there was a nice restaurant over the road where you could get what you need for a lot cheaper than the hotel itself (hotel breakfast very overpriced). Great location to Clot metro station to explore barcelona (10 min walk to sagrada familia) and also on the main line to the airport. Staff were all friendly enough, overall couldn't fault it.

We have just returned from our trip here about an hour ago and I could not wait to review this hotel. We had booked a four night break here and when we arrived I was a bit concerned with some of the previous reviews regarding staff here and I have to say I think they must have stayed at a different hotel from us the staff could not have been more helpful we were given a small room the first night and in the morning I asked to be upgraded and was willing to pay the extra but the manager said sorry we could not but maybe tomorrow so it was left at that however the next morning at breakfast he was waiting to tell us he had a room for us and we could move immediately{I call that excellent service] also the female staff were great to anything we needed to know we only had to ask even the young porter recognised us every time we passed him and this morning we were treated like royals they all came and said goodbye to us.
Now for the locality of the hotel the el clot metro is a few yards from the hotel and takes you anywhere and is only five stops from the airport. We also used the tram to go to the beach if you walk out the hotel door and turn right and walk along towards the guerkin shaped building you will find the tram terminus you take the T4 which will take you to the beach but I have to say what we found was best value was the city tour busses we bought a two day pass and it took you everywhere. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel and we have stayed in hotels all over the world and can say this was rated one of the best for us but I would recommend the upgrade of the room

Room Tip: Pay the extra for an upgrade to a larger room

Excellent European hotel with excellent service, clean and comfortable rooms. Great location only blocks from the fabulous Cathedral Sagrada Familia. However, too far to walk to the harbor, but made up for by the value and neighborhood.

This was booked by a travel agent for a two night stay before going on a Royal Caribbean Cruise around the med. I'd definitely recommend this hotel because the location alone couldn't be better! A 15 minute walk from the Sagrada Famillia which is a must to see and only a 10 minute walk from the metro. The cafe on the corner opposite is very good if you're in need of a quick bite to eat. They have meal deals in there and the staff are very friendly.
The hotel reception staff were brilliant and very helpful with information, maps, directions and ideas on where to visit. You get free wifi so can even go online for a bit of last minute research or to get in touch with people back home.
The rooms are gorgeous. Much bigger than I expected, very clean and well maintained by staff.
A buffet breakfast was included with my stay and I also ate in the hotel restaurant both nights and the food was gorgeous. The barman during the day was also a waiter during the evening, he was very good at his job, knowledgable about the food and friendly too.
I've recommended this hotel to everyone I know and am sure I will be back at some point in the future.
