“Amazing location and nice hotel”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

We spent 3 days at Royal Rambla. Perfect location for a short visit to Barcelona, the tour busses were right round the corner, great restaurants just a minute or two away and you can get a taxi from right outside the hotel. There is a lounge overlooking La Rambla, a great place to chil out and people watch. Our room was clean, modern and quite large. The staff was always kind and very helpful. The only negative thing I can think of is that the metro went right under the hotel.

The hotel it self gives a experience of being very new with a welcoming and modern interior. The room had adequate space for a family of 4. We had a room towards a backyard which was nice and quiet.

We did not eat at the hotel but planned to have something to drink in the lounge bar - but noone were there to serve, so we did go out and had some drinks at La Rambla. Not really a big problem...

The location is nothing else than perfect: Directly on La Rambla, only some footsteps from the old city but also the streets withe the trendy shops and all fashion.

We would like to choose this hotel again next time coming to Barcelona.

I spent 4 days there with my girlfriend. Perfect location in the middle of barcelona, everything is a walking distance, Very friendly stuff, the rooms have a good space, one of the best breakfast buffet that you could have. Just the internet service cut from time to time but over all you could never regret staying here.

I have only good things to say about this hotel in the best location in Barcelona. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room clean and quite spacious, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. As the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Placa Catalunya, it is close to public transport and the hop on/off tourist buses. For foodies it is a great place to be - only a few minutes walk to the food market.

Room Tip: One of the few hotels I found in Barcelona with reasonably priced triple rooms.

Initially, we were on the fence about staying in such a touristy area of Barcelona, but this hotel ended up being perfectly centralized amongst all of the things that we wanted to do. I still cannot believe how little we paid to stay here.

The hotel was very clean and modern. They have some really cool rustic furniture in the lobby - totally my style - so we felt right at home. Our room was spotless and the bed was BY FAR the best bed I have ever slept on in Europe. It was a king size and incredibly comfortable - I slept like a baby after a long night of drinking in Madrid followed by a long day of travel to Barcelona. I will forever look back on that epic nap and smile. The room itself was good-sized and had a lot of closet space. The bathroom was large (dare I say the size of an American hotel bathroom), separate from the main room and had great water pressure.

We were on the third floor facing Las Ramblas and worried it would be loud, but we couldn't hear a thing. The hotel was pretty quiet in general, almost to the point where we wondered if anyone else was staying there.

The breakfast they offer is quite good and if you check in on Foursquare you will not be charged for it (that only works once though). The WiFi was very reliable.

My only compliant is that the front desk staff were not very friendly. When we first checked in, the gentleman was very cordial and welcoming, but after that it was as if we did not exist. Each time we walked in or out of the front door the desk attendant would not even look up, let along greet us. It was very odd.

Regardless of the hot and cold service, we will definitely stay here the next time we are in Barcelona.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband, we booked a Royal Ramblas room (I think this is also known as a design room).

Check in was quick and easy however thy had already charged 1 night to the card used to secure the booking which I wasn't aware of so make sure you book using the card you intend to pay with.

The room was spacious, a bit of an odd set up though. As soon as you walk in you have the toilet through a glass door to your left then a sink right in front of you in the main room and a shower the other side of the sink. I wouldn't say it's bad but it is a jut strange. The bed was huge and very comfortable, the room also has it own thermostat so we were able to have the aircon on nice and cool. There is no noise at all from outside which is great but you do hear and feel the rumble of the metro. Also, there is always noise around the hotel like furniture being moved at all times of the day and night, it didn't keep me awake but it happens often and is quite annoying.

Breakfast is nice, there's scrambled eggs etc and lots of choice for cold breakfast although keep an eye on use by dates, I picked up a yoghurt that was 2 days out and when I told the waitress she was not bothered at all and just snatched it out if my hand.

I like the hotel and the room and you can't get a better location but the reception and waiting staff do let it down. I found all but 1 of them very rude and abrupt and it felt like you were inconveniencing them by asking a simple question. There was 1 guy who worked at the reception called Llois (I think), he couldn't have been more helpful and willing, they need more like him.

Overall I had a good stay but I probably wouldn't stay here again, there are so many hotels around here that benefit from the same great location that I would like to try.

We booked 2 nights prior to leaving on a cruise, but due to a health concern had to delay our departure by a day. The hotel made it clear that canceling after "X" time for any reason would result in a full charge for that day--which it definitely did! Then we had the fun of being 2 middle agers hauling our luggage up to our "adequate" room in the hotels tiny elevator (2 trips). In addition the price of the car and driver from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the ship was unbelievably high! We should have canceled the 2 day booking, paid for the one night and booked in elsewhere--preferably somewhere with a porter and a reasonably priced car service!!

Dear Mrs. Susan,

We feel so sorry if you had that negative experience in Barcelona.

About the cancelation policy, we always inform through the written confirmations sent, no matter from which website you buy the Hotel, so normally we imagine that the travellers have an insurance for this unexpected situations. Related to the bellboys, in our Hotel they are under 25 years old, the reason why, is that they are starting in the reception department and growing as recepcionists, etc. anyway we appreciate your comment about contracting older ones. In the lifts, two for guests and one for staff, it's accepted 6 person in each one, so maybe on your trip it was full inside....

In relation to the transfers taken form the Port to the city center, we regret to inform you that is not in our hand to establish the prices for this public transports, on the other hand, we have in our website published that we can arrange transfers for our hotel guests, maybe the rates are the same but normally it's an easy way to know in advance how much will you spend in the destiny, so it can be useful for your next booking.

We hope that next time that you come to visit Barcelona you have a better experience at all.

Yours faithfully,

The Management
