We were upgraded to a suite (Rm 217). The room was modern with a long hallway/entry way. It reminded me of a studio appointment. The spa shower was fantastic! I was very pleased. The only negative is that we could hear the noise from the street below. If you need quiet to relax and sleep, I would request a high floor.

This property is in the heart of everything. We were able to walk to La Sagrada Familia (15 mins) and the hop on hop off bus stop was a short walk away (5 mins).

The staff was attentive and graciously assisted with international mailings, return transport to the airport, hop on/off bus tickets and restaurant recommendations. Thumbs up to the onsite restaurant.

We were given delicious warm cookies upon check in and check out. Nice touch!

We will be returning to the Alexandra Doubletree on our next visit to Rome.

Room Tip: Opt for a high floor to minimize street noise

I booked the DoubleTree on Honors points, but would pay to stay. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff early in the morning, dropped our luggage and headed out to explore with the map and helpful hints the front desk offered. As per their detailed instructions we walked 2 short blocks to Passseig de Garcia and caught the 24 bus to the amazing Park Guell upon our return we rode the 24 bus past our stop direct to Placa de Catalunya. After a nice stop, we walked up Passeig de Garcia to see Gaudi's Illusion and continued walking stopped for Lunch at The Orange Claris Cafe (highly recommend the set lunch) and on to La Sagrada Familia. After a visit there we headed back to the DoubleTree and stopped at Gaudi's Casa Mila and walked a few more blocks to the DoubleTree. Finally we grab our bags and rode the elevator to the 3rd floor and entered the hall of blackness. I've read other reviews criticizing the hall and it isn't horrible, just different. The room on the other hand is far from blackness. it was very bright and contemporary or has my husband said austere. If one is hoping for comfy cozy this is not the place for them. If one is hoping for clean, non cluttered comfortable and all the necessities it is a perfect fit. The chair at the desk is molded plastic, the furniture has clean lines, nothing rounded or soft. No carpet on the floor and a concrete floor in the bathroom. The tub and shower are perfect and the bed was very comfortable. We were on the street side and the noise was non existent, once we closed the window very tightly. After we recovered from our day out we headed out for dinner. I asked the front desk for a restaurant recommendation. I wanted casual, good food, somewhere someone from the hotel would run out and grab a bite. They recommended Mussol about 2 blocks away and we had a very enjoyable dinner watching cars and motorcycles fly by us. I didn't expect much when I booked the DoubleTree for we just needed a place to stay for one night before our flight....I am so pleasantly happy to have found the Alexandra Barcelona and you will too.

This place was fantastic. We are Honors gold members and love Hilton properties. The place is just a few minutes from the Sagrada Familia and La Rambla. The neighborhood is safe. Make sure to stroll the La Rambla, eat some Tapas and people watch. This is truly one of the best cities in the world. Breakfast was exquisite and we were sad that we could only stay one night before we left for our next destination.

Stayed here when in Barcelona for work and the hotel is beautiful! It's located in the heart of the city and we were able to walk everywhere pretty easily. My room was amazing. It overlooked the city and had a window seat with cushions where I could sit and read in the early morning or evening. It also had the most amazing bathtub located in the room itself (behind the king bed). No doubt I would stay here again.

Stayed for three nights after departing cruise ship. Hotel is located in excellent location just 6 blocks from Playca de Catalunya and Las Ramblas. Easy walk to Gothic Quarter. Very helpful staff. In room wifi good. Very good breakfast buffet with wonderful fresh fruit, several hot dishes and many selections of cereals, yogurt, breads and pastries. Try the wonderful lemon cake on the buffet and fresh orange juice. When existing main door of hotel don't miss the Main Street to the right just half block away with their many sidewalk cafés and restaurants. We always turned left from main exit going to Passeig De Gracia Street to walk to Playca de Catalunya and did not discover the other area until end of stay. Our room was very contemporary in decor and perfect for male travelers but for women, there could be more storage areas (no drawers or shelfs and very small closet) also lighting is terrible for putting on makeup, I would suggest a small wall mounted lighted mirror for bathroom. One other small complaint is the in room safe is in a very awkward location and hard to get to (floor of closet). Other than those small issues, the hotel is perfect. It is very stylish and trendy. I would recommend hotel and would stay again. Plan on the hop on hop off bus, great way to see city.

I stayed here for 4 nights and liked this hotel especially for the location in Eixample area which is far less busy than Las Ramblas but stylish area, good rail and metro links and with plenty of restaurants on the doorstep. Ideal for taking the train from the airport - ensure you buy a T10 ticket which costs just over 10 euros and gives 10 individual journeys which you can share between people and so the airport to centre costs only a euro each. Get off at Passeig De Gracia and you are literally a 5 min walk from the hotel. That is much more convenient than hotels located further south.

We had a junior suite with terrace and the room was very modern and large and had a great bathroom with none of the "lack of privacy" issues that I have read about on this site for some hotels in Bcn (eg with shower in the bedroom area). The terrace was worth it as the weather was sunny and Bcn is so tiring that it was great to return at end of day and sit on terrace to have a drink and chill out. There is no real view (apartments opposite) but it feels private and is just a great addition to a city holiday rather than sitting in your room. It had a tub on the terrace as well but it would have to be warmer before that is in use and it was also quite dirty and not apparently cleaned during our 4 day stay.

The room had a kettle and a nespresso machine (not sure these are in all the rooms) and unlike others on the site we had great wi-fi connection at all times. You do have to log back in every 24 hours but with same password so no big deal. The bed was enormous and very comfortable - and unlike others I have heard about, this was one huge bed and not two put together. The blinds were great at keeping light out so we were lucky we got up most mornings! Air con was controlled in each room and was very effective and relatively quiet. No noise at all from the street but some from people letting their doors bang. There are only 3 junior suites with terraces on 7th floor so it did not get many passers-by

Staff at desk were pleasant but we did not really ask them very much so cannot comment on how helpful etc. We did not eat breakfast so cannot comment on that. We had a light meal one evening in the lobby area by the bar and it was very good and was a reasonable price.

All in all I would choose this hotel again and I would opt for the suite if staying more than 2 nights. It was not cheap but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Junior suite with terrace is good if staying in nice weather for more than a day or so,.

We like the location despite its off-the-beaten-path location. The hotel is in the L'Eixample neighborhood, so it takes awhile to get to Barri Gotic or El Born. Restaurants in the neighborhood aren't as interesting and a bit more expensive. However it was very quiet and low key, a nice haven away from all the tourists.

The hotel itself is contemporary, trendy style. Lobby area spacious and attractive. We had a teeny tiny room, big enough for a bed and a small desk and that's it, barely enough room to walk around.

In general the furnishing was attractive enough and the room was mostly clean. Small things to complain about such as the trash can not being emptied the second day.

The biggest complain was the internet connection. The first night my android tablet connected for a couple of hours then it stopped. My husband's iPad never connected. The second night my husband's iPad worked but my tablet stayed connected for about 10 minutes then dropped. The 3rd night there was simply no connection at all for either one of us. We didn't bother calling the front desk as we heard other guests complain in the morning and the front desk staff just shrugged, they aren't techies so they really wouldn't know what they can do. Not having working internet service just isn't acceptable for travelers who rely on it for research, email, news, weather, etc. We were not happy about the issue.

Dear BayAreaRes,
Thank you for the review. I appreciate the honest feedback and apologize for any inconveniences.
Certainly we detected a failure with our wifi connection due to a problem with all wifi antennas signal (that is the info which our internet provider gave us). Unfortunatelly it affected the hotel during your stay, believe me that I really apologize for this inconvenience, moreover taking in mind that this issue was out of our hands and it was not finally fixed until Monday. I must tell you that this is not a usual problem and we will take all measures to avoid this happen again in the future.
Regards
