“Excellent Stay”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

I had an excellent time and would recommend the level upgrade when booking as you will want for nothing. Staff were 10 out of 10 from the door to the Concierge. By upgrading to the Level you have your own private lounge with Tapas and drinks free all day including Cava, Wine and soft drinks. In the evening there is spirits as well as premium tapas including smoked salmon, spare ribs, lamp and beef.

I was booked at this hotel by my travel agent, who said it was wonderful. It as wonderful, until the last day. My daughter and I spent several days here visiting Barcelona and had our bags packed the night before. We went to breakfast in the morning and came back to our room to grab our passports out of the room safe. The safe wouldn't open, so I called the front desk immediately. The maintenance man came in 5 minutes and he could not get the safe to open. He said he had to get additional tools to get it open. The hotel manager came up when the maintenance man came back and I explained that we were going to be late for our train that left at 9am. He said nothing. The safe was opened and I explained again that we were going to miss our train. Again, not even an apology. We checked out and hailed a taxi, but missed our train by 5 minutes. We had to wait in line at the train station to get new tickets and wait for an additional two hours for the next train to Madrid. I would give this hotel 5 stars, had it not been for the pompous attitude of the hotel manager. The room was beautiful, breakfast was great, the doormen extremely courteous, and the Jacuzzi was awesome. The hotel manager...not so much!

Staff very helpful, go for the junior suite option as the you get access to a private lounge, with free alcohol (champagne, wines, beers etc) and free food ALL DAY. The Serbian waiter was very friendly, as was our kind of 'host' I guess. I forget his name, but he was in charge of the level lounge. Spa is nice too, pool small but didn't bother me as I prefer a flan. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Get junior suite option minimum, worth every penny as then all your food and drink is free.

Green Features: Very good, they make an effort and have periods where all the food is organic etc, they also offer dusk pillows.

Staff was very kind but could not answer my questions all the time. The bathroom was mold-infested, the toilett was sticky and during my stay nobody cleaned that and some of the furniture and inventory was broken. The breakfast was horrible, only the Omeletts were good, 1 out of 3 times i was asked if i want Coffee, when i asked one time they told me to get it by myself from the buffet, what a pity!

We saied at this hotel for two nights, with friends and our young daughter.
The hotel is not exactly very central or close to the subway (about 15min), but if you don't mind a little walk, it's not far from a tram station on Avinguda Diagonal.
Like all Melia chain hotels i have been to, this hotel is also very cleannd confortable. The breakfast was extra cost, but we didn't opt for it, as there is a Caprabo supermarket and several cafes including a Starbucks within 1-2 mins. walk.
The only thing i have to reproach the hotel and particularlly the staff is this: we arrived quite late on our check in night, 3 families with 3 cars and asked at the check in desk how should we handle the parking. The told us that the hotel provides parking at a slightly discouted price in a public underground parking. About 27euros for 24 hrs. We went there. What they failed to mention is that in the month of August, in Barcelona all parking aboveground, on the streets, in public parking spots is free.

We were at the hotel for a week at the start of August. We stayed in a junior suite and had the level package with breakfast.. The hotel is out of the centre as has been stated downhill to town uphill back. From the airport we took the train to Sants and walked. On the way back we took a taxi 25 euros well spent, no hassle and at T2 in under 15 minutes. The Hotel is very well maintained if you report a problem to the concierge in person the maintenance guys will probably be at your room before you get back..Cleanliness is first class as is the maid service . The level is worth it if you use it . We got a deal on it when we booked so it was a no brainer. I would recommend it they have an all day bar with spirits in the evening a buffet, tea coffee snacks etc and its clean and comfortable. The level has its own concierge service who are very helpful.. The pool is a spa about 14 m long and there is a stem room and seating all very pleasant. Breakfast in the hotel is buffet style but of good quality. The dining area can get busy. The room we had was very comfortable the bed was excellent and really massive. We had 2 televisions and a first class bathroom.
Very good hotel really excellent staff, could not fault them for anything. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: High room noisy ar night. Go for the lvel.

We were sorely disappointed by this hotel. After reading some of the reviews I got very excited. It sounded great, but it was not to be. First of all, None of the amenities listed come with the room. All of them have a surcharge. For example, the pool costs 15 euro per person per day. When we discovered this we complained because the website definitely misrepresented it. Instead of being polite or kind about it, they were rude and curt. We pointed out that the website does not say anything about these surcharges. Their response was that the restaurant is not represented as having a surcharge, but you know you have to pay for that. Finally, the manager was called over and he grudgingly gave us access to the pool. He need not have bothered, the pool was embarrassingly small, it should have been advertised as a kiddy pool. It certainly is not worth the 15 euro per person per day they would have charged us.
