“Temaki-ya”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2013

The place sells excellent sushi especially cone sushis and deep fried rolls are worth trying for. Normal makis were also very good and the place has also few dessert options. Also the value (at least for finns) was very good even though the place isn't the cheapest one.

“Average sushi”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2013

This place is ok, nothing too special but nothing offensive either. In my opinion the portions are a bit small and price a little high for the quality of the product. The menu is extensive but most of the options have either cream cheese of some sort of mayonnaise, which I didn't appreciate. My last turn-off was that there weren't any Japanese chefs in sight. The main cook seemed to be Indian and even though I do think people other than Japanese can make decent sushi, I feel like the lack of balance in the combinations and the not so great execution (the rice wasn't even the proper type for sushi) might be blamed on that. Overall I wouldn't recommend it if you're used to good sushi.

“Great fish, interesting combinations”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2013

Ranging from 5 to 7 euros per handroll, Temaki-ya is not cheap, but the quality of the ingredients is really good and you get to pick from very interesting combinations, some involving elements typical of other sushi restaurants (avocado, cream cheese, chives) and some more unusual ones (mushrooms, caramelized onions, wasabi peas). Some handrolls also include more than one type of fish - there is a substantial set of options to choose from. This uniqueness makes Temaki-ya a place worth visiting on a trip to Barcelona (especially for sushi lovers feeling guilty they're not sampling more traditional local cuisine)! Also, it's open until midnight most nights, which is nice.

“Unexpected delicious experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2013

Together with my husband I enjoy japanese cuisine so much, that everywhere we travel first thing to look for is always a decent sushi restaurant. Trip advisor was helpful and we went to Temaki ya as soon as we arrived to Barcelona. It is so simple there, you come, you order, you take your order from the sushi master and enjoooy! Great system of disposable paper envelopes for handrolls and small boat looking things for rolls. Very simple but charming, you can eat and look at the street as people pass by. Unexpected reasonable prices make the visit even better! As for specials, definitely try the crunchy handroll with salmon! It is absolutely delicious! We went to temaki ya 3 times, just couldn't get enough:)

“Delicious!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2013

Temaki-ya is pretty well hidden (it's right in front of Milk bistro, actually).
It doesn't have a lot of room to sit and isn't super cosy (se we took it home with us), but the sushi is extremely delicious.

It's not cheap, but sushi never is. I thought the price was very fair.

There are also vegetarian (non-fish) options.
