Excellent rooms and staff

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Oct 2016via mobile
This hotel is about 10-15 minutes walk from Hospital Clinic and Diagonal Station (but make sure you know the short cuts!). There was 12 in our group & the hotel kindly upgraded our 3 rooms to their superior ones. It was my birthday & the staff went out of their way to make it so special- they bought in a cake especially for our group. Big thanks to Sheshen & Omar - they were amazing! The rooms were a great size with a partition for the children. They were modern, clean and we had a lovely view. We were upgraded so it's worth asking. This hotel is great value for money considering its location, the rooms and quality. Would love to go back!

This hotel apartment was everything and more!!! We were on the very top floor and and a great view of the other old style buildings around us. The floor to ceiling windows brought in amazing light every morning. The rooms were spacious enough for 4 people sharing. The room was nicely furnished and was very comfortable. The restaurants and mini market around made it easy to step out to grab something to eat. This place is central to all major places and transport was breeze which made it easy to travel around at any time of day or night.
Coming home to sleep here was a joy for those 5 days. Highly recommend this hotel.

We recently spent 3 nights at this hotel and were thankfully upgraded from a standard room to what they call a suite with balcony overlooking the corner and which leaked when we had a rain shower. The space was good, the bathroom big with the usual European shower over bath, and the bed was also large and comfortable. The services within the hotel, however, were totally lacking - the included breakfast downstairs was barely adequate, the reception staff (except for one lass) were rude, didn't try to help maybe because of their lack of English, the lifts were often not working, the cleaning staff were very late in the day in coming to clean the rooms which meant if you came back after a morning's touring to have a rest, you were then interrupted. The absolutely worst part was that above us were two dogs in a privately owned unit, and they barked incessantly one night - the reception's excuse was that because the unit was privately owned, they could do nothing about the noise and our resulting lack of sleep.

Room tip: Anywhere away from the rooms with dogs

I booked this hotel because it is near the Barraquer Clinic where I was having surgery. It is about 25 minutes walk to city centre or the Metro is close by. The hotel staff were all very professional and extremely helpful. The modern room was excellent, large with separate lounge/dining area. Recommend the breakfast, everything available. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room tip: I stayed in room 212, end of corridor and on the side of the hotel, quieter than the front of the hotel

Spent 3 nights here in a mini suite and loved it. Large rooms, more like own one bed-roomed apartment with very large comfy bed.
Pluses. As mentioned large rooms that were clean and well serviced by maids. Good water pressure for shower and toiletries replaced each day. Including 2 toilet rolls, so not sure how an earlier reviewer moaned about running out and searching through bins for more! (what!) Would have been easier to use toilet in reception area or take rolls from there if desperate!! All staff friendly and very polite with smiles. Able to book the day tour bus at reception and bus stops just along from hotel. A/C worked well and not noisey.
Negatives Had to pay 4 Euros per day for safe in room. Not the hotels fault but dustmen come along to empty street bins from around midnight until around 3am which can be fairly load in the wee hours, but we were on first floor so if you can get rooms higher up should not be an issue

Room tip: Book mini suites but higher floors if possible so no noise from dustmen during night

The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Nice balcony should you want to see outside activity. Breakfast quite good but the cooked breakfast looked dry, greasy and old. The continental selection was okay though and coffee was good.
Staff are obliging and very friendly. Floors are wooden so you feel they are cleaner than carpets. Bathroom ok but shower over a tiny bath so not so easy to use. Toiletries ok. Cleanliness good.
All the reviews I read said "location" was good - but bear in mind that the nearest metro is about 6 large blocks away and takes about 30 mins from metro to hotel or the other way around. There is a HoHo bus stop across the street from the hotel, but using the HoHo bus to get around, apart from orientation, takes a long long time, and you have to sit through the same streets and attractions each time, instead of just catching a metro and going straight where you going. The walk from Pl de Catalunga to the hotel at night is a killer!
Nice restaurants to eat nearby, but that is also true of the whole of Barcelona.

Room tip: If you keep doors closed you should be ok.
