This hotel experience was wonderful! It has been 3 years in upgrades, and it shows!
We requested a room right on La Ramblas...and once the balcony doors were closed, with their double-paned glass, there was no outside noise. And a blackout curtain kept out the heat, along with the air conditioning, it always stayed cool, even with July heat! And there is no better experience than lying in bed, watching the city wake up, with the birds sailing gracefully right outside our window! The hotel faces West, so a sleep-late morning was always possible.
The staff was friendly and helpful, responding to each request with a smile. They are there always, at least from 6am to 1am, that I know of.
The hotel is located in the middle of La Ramblas, with a Metro station right outside. And, taxis were plentiful. Walking distance to the main square where there are hop on/hop off buses. Or reqular city buses. And PLENTY of shopping, right in the neighborhood. The big open market is 1-2 small blocks up the street.
The included breakfast was complete with eggs, bacon and sausage, assorted meats, fruit, cereal, breads. Coffee and tea, of course! It was served in an airy room, with small tables available on the balcony looking over La Ramblas, or more in the cooler air conditioned room.
We used our own computer, with their password, to access the internet. There are also computers for guest use on each floor.
Sodas and water are free, but we needed to ask at the desk for ice.
We will be returning to Barcelona, and will make this hotel our first choice, if it isn't already booked. Our room was big enough for two, they have bigger ones for up to 4.
GREAT experience! I highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel has just been renewed and it now looks like a very modern one with a great design. The room was very clean with nice design decoration. Even though you're on the Ramblas, the windows have a very good isolation which allows you to sleep very well.
The full hotel seems to pay a tribute to the May 68 events in France which seems confusing at first, but which then gives its "cool" spirit to the whole building.
Breakfast is good, with fruits, eggs & bacon, cheese, yogurt bread, and cereals.
If you're looking for a good value for money hotel, on the Ramblas and in front of the Liceu Theatre then this is definitely the one to choose. We had booked a superior room with view on the Ramblas for 130Euros a night, including breakfast.

Nice hotel - pretty good for tourists without big demands and expectations:
strong positive featurs:
- excellent location: exact culture historical center, pass the service road and you can drop into metro (subway),
- hotel after total renovation - clean and new,
- room with AC,
- acceptable, good breakfast incl. juces, espresso, muesly, yogurt, fresh fruits, james, baguettes, sausages and cheese - enough for morning - of course all fresh!
- free internet incl. a few laptops (several not working),
- good room service.

negative features:
- small room , noise from the street and transportation, you should to sleep with closed balkony door, otherwise each word being said in the walking bulevard belongs to your ears.
- no minibar in the room for case you wish to drink a something cooled drink.
- no chear in the room,
- I've recieved two separate beds instead of we are couple,
- several laptops does not work (no internet connectivety),

Overall: if you don't look for five stars, but ONLY for staying the night and all the time walking in Barcelona - this is a good option.

The rooms are tiny, the view we had was into the hotel cavety looking down into a pit of rubbish, there was no natural light coming into the room, which generally meant we overslept. The beds were very uncomfortable, so sleep was very disturbed (probably another reason for sleeping in). The air con wasn't working so we had to keep the pit window open all the time. Couldn't relax in the room at all so it felt like we spent the whole 5 days on our feet.

On a plus, the location is great. I really regret not booking into the HUSA Oriental instead, which is on Las Ramblas the same, but a little closer to the harbour. I also found it at a cheaper rate! (It's a 4 star instead of 1), and looked much nicer (I haven't actually stayed there though!).
