This was our third stay at Hostal Grau. Each of the rooms is different so choose the room that suits your wishes. This was our best room. 4c. It was larger and in the back, so very quiet. No view, but prefer the quiet versus the view, as the hotel location is right in the middle of Barcelona, just off La Rambla.

We love the location. Minutes to the Subway, a short distance from La Rambla and the Gothic district.

The service was excellent. ALL their staff was particularly friendly. Marlene in particular helped us with everything. She helped with check-in, storing our bags, and helped us navigate the city and gave nice recommendations. Thanks so much Marlene, always smiling and so helpful.

We obviously like this place, as we stayed here 3 times. Not luxury, but very nice location, great service, comfortable rooms.

Room tip: We like the back, away from facing the street. The ones facing the street can be a little noisy

Dear guest,
We hope that you and your family are in good health.
We really appreciate the time you took to write such a detailed review!
These have been very difficult months and we wanted to share with you that the hotel will be back into business very soon with a new breakfast room and rooftop.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon and thanks again!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I was visiting from the US and I loved having a quite place close to the Ramblas as a base to explore from. The staff that I encountered were always super helpful and friendly, which I highly valued since my Spanish-speaking skills are sub-par. Accommodations were clean, eco-friendly, and exactly the kind of place I would want to stay in. My only regret was that my stay there wasn't longer!

My wife and I stayed at the Hostal for 8 nights and we were extremely satisfied with every aspect of our stay: attentive staff, spotless room and premises, quiet and spacious room.
Location was great and we essentially walked to every site we visited. Metro/train station is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
Very good selection of restaurants nearby, including a fabulous vegetarian restaurant 50 meters from the hotel.
Excellent wifi in the room.
Would book again for sure if we return to Barcelona.

Overall the Hostal Grau was terrific, from the greeting at reception when we arrived through to the morning we checked out. We booked the 2-bedroom apartment (5C) and were pleased with the accommodation. We found Hostal Grau in the Rick Steves book and found the value for money to be well worth it (Low €207, High €244, Average €221; 10% discount since we paid in full, non-refundable).

The apartment had two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the second with two doubles. The rooms faced the side opposite from the street, which wasn’t the best view, but ultimately a great choice as it provided quiet. This coupled with comfortable beds allowed for great sleep.

The sitting room was connected to a small kitchen. The sofa and chair were a bit worn, but everything else was in working order. The kitchen had plates, utensils and just about anything we needed for our stay. The bathroom was fully appointed with good towels and body wash. The water pressure in the shower was top-notch.

The property location was wonderful, in the middle of a neighborhood with bars and restaurants, and near a Carrefour grocery store. Plus, the hotel was within easy walking distance of many popular areas like Las Ramblas, Plaça de Catalunya and the Gothic Quarter. The hotel is a great option in contrast to the stuffy sameness of common chains. Hostal Grau is loaded with kooky, unique charm wrapped in experienced hospitality.

We were referred by Rick Steves’ Spain book, and very happy we chose this one. Excellent location, it is steps away from Ramblas & Plaza de Catalunya. Service was excellent, especially from the receptionists. Rooms were always very clean and beds/pillows very comfortable. The vibe is very pristine and soothing. We enjoyed the free coffee / tea / cake very much. Hotels in Barcelona aren’t cheap (compared to rest of Spain), so need to make sure you get best bang for your buck. That is Hostal Grau. Highly recommended!!
