We have just had a 4 night stay here and overall were very pleased with our choice. The style is contemporary, our room was well appointed, the bed was soooo comfortable! We had a room on the front with a balcony and yes, it was noisy with the door open but the soundproofing was excellent so with the door closed we didn't hear a thing. the rooftop terrace was great to have an afternoon siesta (there are sun loungers) and an end of evening cocktail. the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We took the aerobus from the airport , good value and efficient, get off at universitat and the hotel is literally a 5 minute walk away. We walked everywhere, you are approximately 10/15 minutes away from Place de Catalunya and La Rambla but there are a
number of different routes you can take all passing numerous shops, restaurants and cafes en
route . We recommend the open top bus tour which was excellent and that you pre book and print off tickets to la sagrada familia as you will be able to go straight in as opposed to queuing for an hour or more to get in, the hotel kindly did this for us. we loved Barcelona and the Hotel Cram, would definitely go back.

After many, many hours of comparing multiple hotel options in the city centre, I eventually chose Hotel Cram to spend our milestone 10-year wedding anniversary last weekend. I chose carefully because this anniversary was a big deal to us and I wanted the place to be "perfect" for such an occasion. I chose it on the basis of its central location, 4 star rating/facilities and the reviews I read noting how staff threw in little extras for guest special occasions, e.g. complimentary cava in their room or room upgrades.

The location was indeed good; a 15 minute walk to the major tourist areas, plus many cafes, restaurants and shops in the local area. A Michelin star restaurant onsite added to its appeal (though we didn't end up eating there). This is a design hotel, so the public areas such as the downstairs bar/lounge were suitably impressive; sleek, all white decor (which even had "ambient noise" headphones)! Its rooftop terrace provides a lovely view of the city in 2 directions, which provides breakfast in the mornings/has a bar by night, with a nice, chilled out vibe.

However, I did feel misled/disappointed in a few aspects. Their "rooftop swimming pool" in reality was a tiny, narrow strip of (dirty) water right in front where breakfast was served: no way was I going to get in there! The rooms, though modern with a large comfy bed, great sized shower and under-bed storage for cases (clever), were much smaller than the image accompanying the room choice I had booked, and had no real room to walk around in. Aircon was so noisy I couldn't sleep with it on, and generally the rooms were a bit "faded", with some damaged surfaces/walls here and there. "Soundproofed" room as advertised was untrue in our case, and were meant to have bathrobes but these were missing. Ladies, bring your hair conditioner too as they didn't have any, which I found disappointing travelling with just hand luggage and hoping a 4 star would provide such things. They did however have shampoo, shower cap, soap, shower gel - the usual toiletries.

The other thing I found disappointing was the service. It was always polite and helpful, don't get me wrong, but it could be better. We went to the rooftop bar one night but it was unattended, and had to wait half an hour before a staff member showed up, and even then made us wait a further 20 minutes for our ordered drinks to arrive; we were almost going to leave when they came. We requested an iron before going out, but took 2 calls and maybe 15 minutes before it came, and delayed us going out that night. I knew that others got complimentary room upgrades or cava for things like birthdays, but for a milestone anniversary, which to us is a significant occasion, no such comps were forthcoming. When I asked, the receptionist all but politely ignored my statement (which I had also noted at the "special requests" stage of booking online), and didn't do/say anything to note my request or any gesture to make us feel like we would be well taken of. It may sound like I expect too much, but to be honest, when I pay good money for a 4 star hotel (these ratings are based on service), it is the kind of service I like to receive and have certainly got from other places. It's in the details for me.

Overall, this was a good choice of hotel, especially in terms of location, and very impressive from the moment you walk in, though your room may or may not match this first impression... also their breakfast, though it had great food choice and a lovely view, was extortionate. Would recommend it generally, although I think if I were to do it all over again, I would pick somewhere that truly would make us feel special for such a significant occasion.

Room Tip: The rooms are all very close together (2 doors right next to each other), so it was easy to hear you...

The area is a noisy but bubbling neighbourhood with all spoiled travellers like to find!
The hotel offers friendly service, clean but small rooms.
Like in many hotels the offer wifi but it does not work properly.
In the hotel is one star Michelin restaurant, within 15 min walk you will find everything what will make your stay pleasant!
Good hotel to discover Barcelona and feel not a tourist but also a little local.
On a scale from 1/10 it see it is an 8

A lovely hotel just a 15 minute walk (past lots of shops and bakeries!) from the city centre. However, we did feel slightly misled by the 'swimming pool' description, it's more like a water feature and we certainly wouldn't have felt comfortable stripping down to our bikinis and taking a dip if there had been anyone else around. Our double room (meant to be a twin room, but that just meant two duvets) was nice and very welcome after a day exploring the city. We were rather hoping our balcony would be a nice place to sit and watch the world go by. However, it's completely enclosed and there's no seating, not that you'd want to sit there. The only storage for your clothes are cupboards, no wardrobe, and the door to the bathroom is frosted glass and very thin - you want to know your travelling companion very well! All said we had a lovely stay, the staff are friendly and obliging and speak English to a high level. I only mention the 'downsides' to make you aware to avoid disappointment, but i would be happy to stay here again.

Stayed here for one night prior to a cruise. Wish I could've stayed longer!
Taxi from the airport was €28 and staff very nice and welcoming.
Nice room, ok not huge size, but a big comfy king size bed. Soft pillows and sheets. Big shower and good air-con. Just had breakfast on the roof terrace next to the pool. Lots of choice plus hot eggs, omlete, poached etc. The pool itself is only about 7 feet by 20 feet but ideal for cooling off during the day if you're sunbathing up there.

Our room on the 3rd floor was right above the front door, looking over the busy square. I know other people have complained of the traffic noise, but we never heard a thing and slept soundly ? ?

All around are great wee bars and many restaurants. Went to a place nearby where We had 3 courses, bottle of wine and coffee for €41 !
Really nice place. Funny us Brits eat 'early' compared to the Spanish. Nothing really opened till 8.30pm, we were one of the 1st tables at 8.45 and even at 10.30pm people were just arriving for dinner.

Hotel is ideal for a stop over or for a week-end break here, we will def stay here again.
